I am Spanish and get desperate sometimes too... Me and my friends have even threatened to leave without paying because they wouldn't bring us the bill😂

Wow! It is so different there than here in the USA. I remember when we went to Malaga during the height of the tourist season I had to learn patience. Here in the USA the majority of the time it is fast service. In Spain at the busy season it is super hard to get the waiters to wait on you even for your bill. I learned that two hour lunches were a blessing. Thank you for the hack and what to say to a Spanish waiter. I used to get up out of seat and talk to them. They probably thought I was a bit aggresive!

Your final 'maybe' was key and honest; There is no guarantee these days, with the shortage of people willing to work in restaurants. In many cases, waiters are truly overloaded

The joys of Spain, all we do is chill more.

I just act fast and when they deliver the food, kindly I ask them to bring up the invoice to pay right away and give them the money/card then, with the change I give them a tip for their fast service that works every time

This is the truest video ever made about dining out in Spain 😂

In my country, people just raise their hand high and snap in the waiters direction saying "Hey! Hey!" several times to get their attention.

and there is a reason for waiters to ignore you: there is usually a waiter for every twenty tables, where there should be at least five, saving in salaries and hiring the minimum amount of people to work the maximum amount of hours, sometimes not even paid, is a typical feature in Spanish employers, believe me, I know from experience...😢

Thanks for the tip! I guess puedas is the subjunctive 2nd person singular form of poder. Is there a reason why it's not "cuando puedes?"

I find getting up & walking away after a meal gets there attention

That just improves the attention probability ratio. Good point though

Figure out the door they come out of when going back and forth from kitchen to front of house. Just kind of stay looking at that door so that they can't avoid making eye contact the next time they come out

Getting a server's attention is difficult everywhere in Europe. Difficult for those of use who enjoy sobremesa

Did he say "cuando puedes"? Would you not say "disculpa me"?
