The Lexus UX 300e may be the brand’s first EV, but the model that will truly get the ball rolling for Lexus electric cars is the production Lexus LF-Z Electrified. A report from Autocar suggests that the upcoming Lexus SUV, though packing heavy batteries, would not compromise on driving pleasure.
Envisioning an open and minimalist design, the interior embodies an elevated level of the Lexus human-centered approach. The Tazuna cockpit features an augmented reality head-up display, gauges, touchscreen display, and other functions that are grouped into a single module. On the road, the artificial intelligence acts as a lifestyle concierge, acknowledging by touch or voice the driver’s preferences, proposing routes, restaurant reservations and more.
The panoramic roof of light-controlling glass invites the outside in. With the touch of a button, the transparent roof can become opaque.
Lexus should make their production LF-Z Electrified resemble the concept to evoke strong aspirations. Besides the sleek design, it should also achieve superior dynamic performance, thanks to an optimal location of the battery pack and motor, DIRECT4 AWD (dual-motor AWD) technology, and other measures. The usage of a steer-by-wire system in the concept version clearly indicates Lexus’ strong focus on the driving experience.
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3 seconds. Lexus estimates it can offer a range of 600 km or 373 miles. While the production version is unlikely to have these very specifications, we get an idea of the numbers the company has in mind for the top-spec variant.
What is the Lexus electric SUV release date?
The production Lexus LFZ should go on sale in the second half of 2022.
What will be the Lexus LF-Z price?
The base variant of the production Lexus LF-Z (Lexus RZ) could cost around USD 55,000.
