1. Fury of the fallen

Usefulness
Fury of the Fallen only affects Nail damage (not including the strength of Nail Arts), so a build using this charm should be Nail-focused and not Spell-focused.

Since the ability requires the player to be in a near-death state, it is most useful in builds where the player tends to get damaged a lot (being a new or unskilled player) or builds designed to intentionally bring the player down to 1 Mask, such as speedrunning where the player can reliably dodge most attacks.

In a regular game, Fury of the Fallen is only useful if the player is able to avoid taking the last hit of damage for long enough to get in nail hits. Using Quick Slash and Grubberfly's Elegy to deal more damage faster or from a safer distance is recommended. Otherwise, it is more advised to use a charm like Quick Focus to bring the player back into the fight sooner.

Charm Combo

Fragile Strength

Stacks with Fragile Strength, providing a 162.5% damage increase at one health when both charms are equipped.

Grubberfly's Elegy

Fires red projectile at one health. Stacks multiplicitavely, boosting the projectile damage to 87.5% damage. Note that this works only when the player has only 1 mask left.

Note: The above two charms also stack together, giving the projectile 131.25% Nail damage.

2. Soul catcher

Usefulness
One of the earliest charms available in the game. Its effect is not drastic but it remains useful for quite a long time for healing purposes, especially in areas where enemies have attacks that are difficult to avoid.

Charm combo

Shaman Stone

Useful as it provides a fast regeneration rate for powerful Spells.

Soul Eater

Stacks the amount of SOUL gained to 87% more per hit.

Spell Twister

With Spell Twister equipped, the amount of SOUL gained in one hit is now enough to cast a Spell.

Quick Focus

Combining with Quick Focus allows for more frequent, safer healing.

Grubsong

Good for a Spell-focused build as it further increases SOUL gained throughout a battle.

3. Wayward compass

Usefulness
This Charm is only useful for exploration purposes. It is almost invaluable in areas that have convoluted maps, but it is recommended to switch it for something more combat-oriented when preparing for a boss battle.

On a second playthrough, when the player already has a good knowledge of the map's layout, this charm is mostly obsolete.

4. Gathering swarm

Usefulness
This Charm is primarily used for the purpose of grinding Geo more easily. It can be useful at the start of the game, especially for buying expensive items like the Simple Key or the Lumafly Lantern. Useful to collect Geo that falls into spikes and thorns.

Note that it will not collect Geo that's fallen into water, acid, or into an opening that leads to another area.

The usefulness of the charm falls dramatically in the late game, where Geo is no longer so crucial, and many enemies in areas like Kingdom's Edge drop enormous amounts of it.

Charm combo

Fragile Greed

Gathering Swarm works best in combination with Fragile Greed to gain even more Geo.

5. Stalwart shell

Usefulness
This item primarily shines in some boss battles, especially ones where it is difficult to avoid getting hit. The longer invulnerability time can either provide a window to attack a boss with impunity, potentially overwhelming them with sheer damage.

It is also useful in the Trial of the Fool, which features many encounters with enemies whose attacks are hard to dodge.

Charm combo

Quick Slash

Especially efficient in combination with Quick Slash, allowing the player to quickly deal a large amount of damage.

Fragile Strength

Especially efficient in combination with Fragile Strength, allowing the player to quickly deal a large amount of damage.

Quick Focus

Useful to provide a window to focus soul and heal when used with Quick Focus.
