PLA Group Army Conducts City Offensive Drill in China's Zhurihe

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted a drill on city offensive and control recently as a part of the "Cross 2017 Zhurihe" military exercise at Zhurihe training base in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Soldiers were divided into two opposite teams, red and blue. After approaching the city, the offensive red team sent an obstacle breaking detachment to tear down the enemy's fortifications instead of launching an air attack so as to avoid damaging the city.
"There were many difficulties. We overcame three obstacles including the enemy mine field, barbed wire and pyramid-shaped blocks. We also occupied six blockhouses that were stoutly defended by the enemy," said Li Tengfei, a company commander at the 80th Army Group of the PLA.
The blue team carried out a tight defense and both sides conducted street fighting involving various arms such as engineers, special-operators, infantry, armored force and army aviation.
The drill not only tested the individual qualities of officers and soldiers, but also examined their overall battle capacities in forces deployment and making detailed operational command.
