I've played this sports for over 30. The one coach I will always remember had this type of humor with us. Thats the only team I ever played in that never lost a game in the payoffs. We would end the regular season with a 500 record. Then came the playoffs. None of us felt pressure, but we all unconsciously some how knew. It was time to take it serious. Our season record combined for 2 years was 17 win 19 loses. In the playoffs in 2 years 12 win 0 L and 2 Championship. Even though he talked like this to us, we knew it was all in fun and kind of always looked forward to his next joke. It let us know he was in a good mood. When he wasn't like this, it meant practice was about to get hard. Because he meant business.

"This is no time to be sober." killed me!🤣🤣🤣
I've been driving a yellow 2001 Xterra since 2007 and when my kids were still in school I told them to tell people that their daddy drives a short-bus! When I would pick them up after school I told them they were "riding the short-bus home!".

Reminds me of the dad of one of my teamates. He loved all the kids and treated us like his own. He knew how to talk to each kid to encourage him. Real coaching skills (though he was not our coach)

The slump after the "If your goal was to blow the lead, you did a good job of it" comment was hilarious.

Absolutely love this guy, ankle bracelet and all. All you people saying negative things just don't get it. He is teaching these kids a GAME, GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN! Or did that also get whipped backups forward and upside down like the rest of the world?!

Brilliant. Reminds me of a coach who asked me if I would try pitching towards second base to see if it helped.

My 8th grade football coach used to have film sessions at a hole in the wall bar in the back room 😂 he was an alcoholic for sure but god bless that man 😂

Kinda funny had a coach like this back in the day. I don't think he had an ankle bracelet though..

That’s classic. Everything you always wanted to say, but couldn’t.

In the 70's Coach Lewis was a butcher and our team slogan was, You Can't Beat Tom's Meat! Took a nasty one in the hand one day while I was pitching and it dislocated my thumb. Coach came to the mound and said, "I can't believe you let that $%#!@% on." While saying this, he took my hand and jerked my thumb back into place. He looked at me funny after and said, "Now get this *&$%# out or I'll put in someone who can!" Thanks Coach!

I remember back in the LL days when i was pitching my coach came up to me when i gave up a couple of walks ad asked me " hey what's your mom cooking for dinner tonight?" i said liver and onions. then he asked if i was anxious to get in there and eat it and i said "NO" then he said well if you walk another guy then you ill be eating sooner then you thought.. next guy went down swinging.

love this guy, the dad these kids never had letting them enjoy the game. kids are great at taking constructive criticism and give it back just as much.

When I coached Kids in Baseball, I always taught them how to get Better without talking down to them. I taught the game, the more they learned, the better they became. Gotta Love the sport to get better. Teach them to Love the Game, and they get better on their own.

I had a coach like this who chain smoked Lucky Strikes in the dugout. Great times.

I wasn't exactly like that, but I did allow the kids to punch me in the shoulder if I made a mistake . . . as long as I could punch them in the shoulder if they did. I told them we sucked when we sucked and asked them to tell me why, without blaming anyone in particular. I asked them why we should do things, who they wanted to lead on the field. Very democratic and team oriented. Yeah, talked about video games and asked the kids if they brought Tonka trucks along if they were playing right field. It's all fun, as long as you learned something. About the game or yourself.
