Hey Nick, I see in this video you used a gasket with the accumulator delete..I here mixed advise on using a gasket or no gasket with stock separator plate..?

Thanks for yet another informative video from you. I have a bunch of little comments:
-You once recommended to rollerize the rear output saying it was only like $10. I'm going factory on it partly from a guy whose went bad, the idea of less to go wrong, Gm doing it, and my goal being as many miles as possible. Perhaps the bad one was a fluke. I have a standing rule to buy bearings only from US, Germany, and Japan.
-You said the heat is one of the main factors in a tranny going bad. I wonder why no copper is used in the pan or cooling. Copper convent heat twice as aluminum. I am considering building copper fins for the pan.
-You don't like to use the transgo bolt from 2 stripping out. Dr. Shock's video on the 4L80e shows Gm making a tool to resize the hole and bigger bolt, which was surprising to me.
-I wish you would make a video of how a 4l80e functions. In other words, which pistons are being applied and when. Where is the fluid being routed when going from 0 to 100? IDK how to design the video, but I do know how most of us are visual learners. I wish it could be done so you can get the most viewers. Perhaps listing and relating to the most popular trannys people like to build up. All people are problem solvers so the title would relate to a problem to get the most views, I imagine. "Aliens are redirecting my fluid! may work. lol
-I think your idea of a video of just what to drill out is a terrific idea and video.
-I want to quickly mention that I've worked with many engineers. Often, they simply had the money, did the homework, and passed the test to get their degree. Many were not born for it and didn't want to be a lawyer or doctor. You were born for it.

First of all thank you for such awesome video breakdowns. I am using this series to build my 4l80e strictly off road in my LS 6.0 powered Humvee. I do have a question regarding spacer plate drilling. Would you do the same hole sizes or different knowing it's in a ≈500 hp 400 ft lbs LS with a final ratio of 5.24 turning heavy 37s with a curb weigh of 5850? Humvee's drivetrain are a little different. 2.73 diff ratio and 1.91-1 at the portal hubs. Transfer case is all time AWD or 4 lock. Trying to make my build nearly identical to yours. Torque converter is Precision 4641HS

That test plate looked handy. I didn’t see any for under 120 dollars on eBay, that’s a shame because it is just a water jet plate of aluminum lol.

I'm not sure about the metric fasteners, but SAE bolts have marks on top. The pump bolts, and parking pawl guide bolts should be grade 8 six marks on head. I always paid attention to where certain bolts went. The pump has a good amount of pressure on it, so you don't want to use hardware store bolts there. The parking pawl is a safety matter, you don't want the vehicle coming out of park. I have taken many transmissions apart for over 40 years, you could always tell when somebody slapped one together. Flat rate, you don't always pay attention to details, it's all about beating the rate, so you can make money.
Will you or somebody play with the program with HP Tuners or EFI Live to tweak the shifts? I know you can adjust for gear ratio and wheel sizes. I had to add in some wires for the speed sensor. On blue connecter on PCM Pins 21, 22, 23, 24 are for the speed sensors. I haven't messed too much with the Gen IV PCMs, but the trans has separate controller. My truck has controller inside the trans.

Hi Nick. I am installing a Extreme Trans Brake In my 4l80e. Question with Dual Feed Mode. On the case itself should I install the Cup Plug on right side of center support bolt? Or leave it out. Thanks Dave

I forgot to ask you if you ever heard of an alarm that tells the driver when fluid isn't coming back from the radiator or cooler? If the transmission return line stops bringing fluid then the transmission burns up. This can happen by hitting a deer (as in my friend), rust, a rubber line connector hitting something on the road, etc. I thought about putting some kind of a sensor like pressure or temperature right at the return fitting to the center support. Even a flow meter could tell you if there is some problem that is about to burn up your tranny. I can't believe no one does this or uses this. You can have the patent if none exist.

I am doing a 4l80e on my 2001 Chevy 2500hd 4x4, I did all the lube mods, internal dual fed direct, accumulator delete, Sonnax billet hub, rollerized rear, etc
My question is I got upgraded intermediate springs and retainer as well as FTI performance TH400 direct drum Hp springs,
Should I install these direct and intermediate springs and retainers?

Do you have many customers complain about reverse engagement when you leave out the reverse checkball when dual feeding? For me it was the other way; too long for engagement.

Hi, I saw that you did not install the seals of the central support. To the left and right of the central support bolt. In the case of double feed, only to the left of the bolt. Is it possible to do this? I just don't have such seals. 11.30 time.

So I followed your build series start to finish and did all the lube mods as well, put the trans in the truck and went to fill it with fluid, after about 2 3/4 gallons of fluid it bunch of fluid went out the vent tubes. Everybody said it’s 13.5 quarts and to pre fill the torque converter, any ideas?
