Great test! this is by far the most interesting NAS out there now. I would request you to test multiple simultaneous transcoding's of 4k x265 100mbit HDR to 1080p x264 20mbit SDR in the future and use the number of streams it can do before buffering starts as the benchmark result. That would be more of a realistic stress test and a realistic worst case scenario. No BluRay i have ever seen goes beyond 100mbit and no 4k uses x264. Anything less than that is also unnecessary, everything can do 1080p today but cant it do 100mbit UHD HDR to FHD SDR then its not good enough for 4k.

Hello there, I need help. I'm in the process of buying my first NAS for home. My requirements are very simple. I will be using it mainly for storing & viewing family photos & videos (fond memories), movies & music (personal collections) and personal documents. I'm in a dilemma, unable to decide between ASUStor Nimbustor Gen 2 AS5404t (4 bay NAS) and ASUStor Flashtor Gen 1 FS6706t (6 bay all SSD NAS). Kindly help me in deciding - both cost the same in my country right now... Thanks in anticipation.

Can you help me understand why it couldn't play those h.264 120mpbs 4k jellyfish files but it could play the 400mbps file? I thought when I file doesnt need to be transcoded it is 'easier' for the system to play?

I don’t use storage devices as application servers. I have 12 bay Flashstore with RAID 10, as it has pathetic CPU and running Plex on Mac Studio, with M1 Pro, connected to NAS over 10Gb LAN.

You should not do the high bandwidth files on wifi, i tested the same h264 and it worked like it should. 265 however...
