Thought You Were Free from Student Loans? You May Be Out of Luck #Shorts

“I am altering the deal, pray I do not alter it any further.” That’s what President Biden is saying after six Republican states sued the administration on September 29 over its plans to forgive student loans, causing the Feds to change who is eligible. Now, borrowers whose federal student loans were guaranteed by the feds but held by private lenders won’t get debt relief. That’s nearly 770,000 people being left out to dry. Borrowers had until… September 29 to consolidate their loans in order to dodge the change… You may have noticed that gave them literally no time to do that. Those people are out of luck, although in the grand scheme they’re a small percentage of the 44 million federal student loan borrowers. Moving forward, the Department of Education said it hasn’t completely abandoned these borrowers and is looking for “alternative pathways” to provide relief.

Now that's a political ad just waiting to be made. "They sued to keep Americans poor."

i dont have student loans but i also think that people these days have no fucking clue how student loans work. the reason they need forgiving is because theyre predatory and because people have no choices: get a degree or get paid pennies on the dollar. there wont be any social security for you when youre older, because theres not enough money for us to make kids for you. good luck retiring. your kids arent going to be able to help pay for you.

Ah so the government is willing to forgive companies that waste billions of dollars, but when it comes to helping relieve people from college debt it’s an issue man I love America.

paying for k-12 education isnt socialism but paying for college would be, somehow.

Is there anyone we can sue about all those big corporations handouts? The one that interest me the most is the airlines.

You do realize this was only because GOP sued them right? Like he wouldn't have changed it if they didn't do that that's how little they care about student loans. that should show anyone how little they care about it.

Loans for education should be tied to your salary only. Nothing else. Everyone should be able to attend college, but whether you graduate or not the amount you make after college should determine how much you pay for the semesters of education you received. Sliding scales are the way to fix a lot of things in this nation. That way people everywhere only pay what they can afford. This also applies to paying cash (no loans). To charge the children of billionaires the same for education as the poorest student in America is insane.

Yet there will still be some who support those who sued to stop the loan relief will use this as a way to blame the side trying to get the relief.

I'm still pissed that Navient transferred my loans to a sister co. back when they lost their suit. I assumed this would somehow fall through too

I feel like more effort should be given towards future debt instead of trying to forgive existing ones. You'll have a much easier time setting policies that assist in bringing college fees down and preventing colleges from charging absurdly high prices for education.
College education shouldn't make you go hundreds of thousands in debt, education is a core part of a nations growth and the fact that most graduates spend more than 10 years paying back college debt is absurd

watch as younger Americans unilaterally decide not borrow anymore loans for college. if kids can go on the march and stop the U.S. economy and Americans can do the same.

Right here is a comparison

In the US per year tuition fees can be as high as $65, 000 per year

In the UK its £9, 000 per year and that's really high in Europe.
