I remember there were speculations about Osprey that real reason was it had some technical problems, like people who got it revealed after normal playing some gears get damaged very quick. And the military thing might have been just an excuse.

You missed a big one, Lego 21308 Architecture Las Vegas was cancelled after the Mandalay Bay shooting but the set did ship to at least one store in South Africa.

There was a LEGO City Hideout for crooks set for this year, but for the stupidest reasons, they cancelled as it doesn't fit their "policy". I can imagine that there exists at least one or more copies of the unreleased set.

The Osprey has been (and as of 2021 is) being sold in Europe in many retail and online stores, don't know if it still in production or just initial stock that was send out but I can confirm many people actually got to buy it

I definitely saw the Osprey in my local Lego Discovery center (Texas). It was actually there for a good while.

I’m pretty sure this set got a
wide release and stopped being restocked in America due to the “brand values.”

It's things like the Osprey that make me hate the Lego company. They're such a frikkin joke. The Osprey is an amazing set, one of my favorites, and I know it sounds cheesy, but I really do feel bad for the thousands of once excited fans who won't ever get to have this great set. RIP Osprey, in my opinion, one of the best Technic sets ever.

I think the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey was ultimately pulled because of a complaint from Germany.

I was going to get the Lego v22 osprey when they cancelled it I wasn't happy they cancelled it

There are parts lists and instructions out there for the V-22 Osprey. However it includes one unique part, the battery box. And a number of other parts which are in unique colours - notably that particular shade of orange. I have seen workarounds online for all of these issues, including the gear wear problem mentioned below. I was going to attempt to gather the parts and make it, but it would have involved so many compromises that it would no longer have been true to the set, and would have been more like a fan MOC.

The real reason for the cancellation of the Osprey might never be known. The Military aspect may have been it but they have released other military aircraft before. Many speculated there was pressure from an anti-war lobby in Europe.

You can tell when these sets were supposed to release because the commercials are VERY grainy!
