Why Rege-Jean Page TURNED Down Bridgerton Season 2 and Pete Davidson & Phoebe Dynevor Are Dating!

Fan favorite Regé-Jean Page turns down a huge Bridgerton Season 2 offer, we address the Regé James Bond rumors, and at last we have a big update on the rumored romance between Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor and Pete Davidson.

TYLER: Well news broke Friday that our beloved Simon, Duke of Hastings, will not be returning in the highly anticipated season 2.
Netflix and Shondaland announced the news on Instagram in the form of a Lady Whistledown letter of course
It reads "Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We'll miss Simon's presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear."
Fans of the series were disappointed, but fans of the book weren’t too surprised. The sophomore season will be based on the second book in the Bridgerton series, which centers around Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love.

When Regé signed onto Bridgerton, he only signed a one-year contract with the project, because the series would follow the family in future seasons, and not necessarily the Duke. His character’s arc had a beginning, middle, and end.
According to an anonymous source, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the show had offered Regé an opportunity to guest star in 3 to 5 episodes in season 2, with a paycheck of $50,000 per episode. An offer Regé turned down for a “multitude of reasons” according to the sources.
Now of course the part would be smaller, which could be reason to turn down this return offer, but I think we can assume that is more because Regé is going to be so busy in the coming months and years.
He’s already booked roles in major projects like Netflix 's "The Gray Man" and Paramount's "Dungeons & Dragons." And it has been rumored for a while that Regé could be our next James Bond.
In an article with The Mirror published Tuesday, he addressed the rumors.
He stated "Ah, the 'B' word. I think that if you are British, and you do anything of note that other people take notice of, then people will start talking about that. I think that's fairly normal, and I'm flattered to be in the category of Brits that people have noticed."
The actor then simply stated "Nothing more—or less—than that."
But back to Bridgerton! It appears his departure is only on great terms, with a heartfelt Instagram post reading
"The ride of a life time. It's been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke. Joining this family - not just on screen, but off screen too. Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, outstanding fans - it's all been beyond anything I could have imagined. The love is real and will just keep growing."

And the Bridgerton updates don’t end there! An insider confirmed with Page Six that they are indeed an item, but are taking it slow.
Rumors of the couple of course began last month when Pete was spotted in Phoebe’s hometown in the UK.
An Insider has confirmed to Page Six that they are indeed a couple, but are
“not too serious.” Of course Pete is committed to filming “SNL” in New York and Phoebe is in England “for practically the rest of the year” as she begins filming Season 2 of Bridgerton.
The insider did add that “Still, Pete must like her if he’s flying off to quaint little English villages to hang out with her on set.”
So PD and PD are an item, even if it may seem difficult being in different countries for the foreseeable future. Despite this, I’m excited to see where the relationship goes.

I found that $50, 000 per episode for Rege Jean Page is a very very low pay value to come back and do a second season seeing he was a huge part of Bridgerton success i am pretty sure Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian get a whole lot more than $50, 000 just to take pictures in Prada Bags lol

How did Phoebe and Pete even meet? I mean Regé worked with Phoebe on Bridgerton, than it ends & Regé goes off to the USA & does SNL (which Pete is a regular on), nek minit Phoebe & Pete are dating? When did they even meet?
Oddly enough Regé also worked on a show with Phoebe’s previous boyfriend Sean Teale. And Regé and Phoebe both worked on ‘Waterloo Road’ but at different times, I guess it’s bound to happen when your in the same industry in the same country etc? but in Phoebe & Pete’s case, they were not. Gosh these actor/celebs get around 😊
