Observation of the Bartlett Pear Tree

I love to see my pear tree blooming, but im wondering why the branches closest to the other pear tree have the most blooms .? What are these little beetles 🪲 as there are so many and are they harmful in the long term for my pear tree? What do I need to do to get pears 🍐 this year? Thankyou for your help in advance and this is just a few questions from a small backyard farmer and homesteader. Have a wonderful sunny day.

I hope those beetles aren't destructive, feed them to the chickens :) You do have a beautiful spot, nice flat piece on the top of a mountain, God is smiling down on you sis :)

New to your channel. Wow, look at all the blossoms and greenery. Here in Maine we still have snow and mud.
Many blessings.

Pretty sure you need a pollinator pear tree for best results...We used a kieffer pear as our pollinator tree for the orient pear trees :). I also put a little compost around the kieffer in order to keep it stimulated. Last year the yield was so heavy, it was breaking branches on the orient!

Pears are finicky. A lot depends on the "freeze time". I had one pear tree for over a decade that gave me a total of 2 pears. Had we not moved, I was ready to end that tree's existence in favor of a more productive tree...it was hogging up prime real estate, lol. I've never had any pest problems with my fruit trees, so sadly can't help with the beetle issue. My pear tree lost all of its blossoms to the wind already, but I can see baby pears growing!

Fruit is produced on 2nd year branches! Many fruit trees are that way!
