FALCO Der Kommissar EXTENDED

Falco's 'Der Kommissar' was initially recorded in 1981, but its life span extended right through the next two years. It was covered by After The Fire in 1982 and adapted for Laura Branigan the following year; more on that later. This clip is my edit; made up of a performance by the artist on the British series 'Top Of The Pops' and the audio is the extended remix. A #1 in his homeland of Austria, 'Der Kommissar' was a huge hit in Europe and a sizable one here in Australia where it made the Top 10 after its March debut in 1983. Spending 6 weeks in the Top 10 alone, the single was followed just a week after its April debut by the cover version from After The Fire. The British rock band's release made #17 downunder, while being a huge hit in America - making the Billboard Top 5.

Falco would go on to be Austria's best selling artist thanks to this hit and 'Rock Me Amadeus' among other successes. Sadly he died at just 41 years of age in 1998. Up next, I will post the Laura Branigan adaptation....
