Eating pasta in Italy

Real carbonara has guanciale, not prosciutto. That’s why it’s so good.

In Italy we use guanciale for carbonara, which is pork jowl. Much better flavor once the fat is rendered out. I’d highly suggest trying to find some in the US. My local Walmart in the US has it!

Is amazing. I ate 3 plates in one sitting and I’m not even a pasta guy. Best thing, I went for a 4hr walk and felt fine. Italy is dope

Carbonara is from Rome and is made with simple ingredients: fresh eggs, pecorino cheese, pepper and crispied GUANCIALE (not pancetta - bacon). It's really yummy if properly executed. Greetings from Italy!

Hi Ashley! Welcome to Italy, glad you enjoyed the food! Just remember that pancetta is spelled without the H and what we put in carbonara is actually the fancy cousin of pancetta, which is called gone guanciale and it’s 10 times more tasty and complex in flavor 😁

I don't want to be rude, but as a European, I'm telling you that it's not polite to eat pasta like that. The pasta should first be rolled around the fork, and then politely put in the mouth and chewed with the mouth closed. I know that in large parts of Asia it's not like that, but this is different a type of pasta, so are customs.(again not the hate, just some useful hacks!❤)
