To sell calls and puts don't you need to own 100 shares of the stock? You sell a put or a call and what if the buyer exercises the contract?

Your fees for trading options must be cheap over there in the States. In Australia options brokerage is $34.00

This is how it works. Not how it happens. Look at the chart first and figure out the keys levels on the daily, then choose your SP on his analysis. If not, when the market moves close to your strike prices, if you have a short expiration, you are in danger of losing the trade. Your first strike price should be well above the key level, with a longer expiration. Preferably a month. Then take profit at some point before expiration. It’s that simple.

What's DTE??? Just holding for 5 business day until it expires or buying credit spread which is less than 45 DTE and then holding for a week.
