Toots Thielemans spielt an der Mundharmonika gemeinsam mit der WDR BIG BAND "Killer Joe" von Benny Golson unter der Leitung von Bandleader und Arrangeur Henk Meutgeert. Ein weiteres Solo spielt Ludwig Nuss an der Posaune. Als Gast am Schlagzeug spielt Jeff Hamilton. Aufgenommen auf dem Jazztival Bühl 2004.

In Erinnerung an den 2016 verstorbenen großen Jazzmusiker Jean Baptiste "Toots" Thielemans, der am 29. April 2022 seinen 100ten Geburtstag begehen würde.

For sure this is great music, but I can't deny myself to compare this tune with that performed by Norrbotten Big Band featuring the composer him self, Benny Golson that was touring the Sweden jazz scenes this summer, despite his age at 90 year. This time I vote on the later. Benny told about the story behind "Killer Joe" and that his wife wasn't particular keen on it until the money come in. Then she loved it! Sorry Toots, I like you too and the band of course.
