I wouldnt say FGM is a woman to woman issue, its oversimplification and a bit of a cop out tbh. You're forgetting that the reason a girl who hasnt undergone it is shunned is because she is seen as impure and no man will want to marry her. Mostly the procedure makes her proper and desirable for men who will otherwise reject her. Yes, it is carried out by women but they arent the only ones endorsing it. By creating the demand for mutilated women men are just as culpable in this situation if not more. Theres actually a lot more to the issue so even this is oversimplified but i thinks its a better place to start nonetheless.

I always knew these issues existed. But, I feel as though apathy has been instilled in my views. I always push these issues aside because when they are brought up its from sources that I just dislike. I've become somewhat of a spiteful person towards movements like this. My pride has come in the way of me making a difference. I don't know if media or other influences have contributed to this but as a Muslim I should know better and I blame myself. I'm glad I watched sheeko sheeko today because the discussions are helping further contract these views. I wish there was something I could to help out more. Thank you for the very informative and uplifting words.

its a strange world, single women advising married couples about marriage and the rights of married women, women who never had kids advising women with kids and how best to raise them with some even writing books about the subject, unemployed career students advising working folks about work and other related activities, refugees born and bred in the hood discussing openly women rights in Somalia! clinically insane patients discussing mental issues, politicians discussing healthcare and doctors discussing politics. Everyone has strong opinions and is expert in everything and putting across their opinion as facts without hesitations. what do I do? its like a comedy and I laugh at it.
