Undoubtedly the best action movie from Hollywood way back in 60 s with superclass acting skills from Gregory Peck, David Niven & Anthony Quinn.

Gregory Peck is one of my favourite movie stars of all time. ❤❤✍✍✌✌

This was one of the earliest War action-adventure movies I have seen and have been hooked ever since

So good was the movie, that Alistair Maclean, the author had to change the start of the follow up novel - "Force 10 from Navarone" based on the movie ... doing away with charachters of Luki and Banais from the book and adding Maria (from the movie ) !!!

Remember seeing this often on Sunday night TV when I was a kid. Only 3 channels and this movie sat on one of them...for 4 hours. Several years later the music from the opening credits was adapted to accompany recorded highlights for NFL Films' Game of the Week.

The great WW2 blockbuster epic films of the '60s almost all had great theme tunes; alongside TG of N were "The Great Escape", "The Heroes of Telemark" & "Where Eagles Dare".

Much better than the butchered vhs version that cut the Columbia logo and just abruptly begins with the acknowledgements. Since we now have a version of the film with an intermission card, I have often wondered if there was overture and exit suites.

They don't make classic movies like this anymore!
Only occasionally Hollywood
makes a good movie, but not
anything this good unfortunately!

A modern war in an ancient land that had seen so many battles

That was one hell of a mission. To destroy two guns that wouldn't allow any passage of ships, just so that they could evacuate the soldiers from being massacred to prove a point to Turkey.

I thought that this was a Western. Even the title sounds like it's a Western.
