Steve, it took me years to say "You are totally right" Many times I walk into the living room and just look at my equipment and tell them how proud I am of them. I rub their shiny cabinets and tell them what a good job they did making the club members jealous. I always buy the top model of what ever piece of gear I have and once I heard someone who used to be my audio buddy telling people at the club that I owned the lowest model of each brand just to make himself feel better. I had to have the club over to set the record straight and for my Christmas gift I will upgrade again. YES! the music sounds great but it's about the gear!  AND the cool accessories and custom covers and interconnects

I spend way more on music than gear. As a matter of fact, this time last year I purchased a Marantz Integrated Amplifier, Marantz CD player, Music Hall Turntable and Monitor Audio Speakers making it my first purchase in audio gear since 2000. After 17 years using the old stuff it was about time for an upgrade. Maybe I will get another 17 years out of my latest acquisitions so I can keep spending my money where it should go...on the music.

Good to hear someone being honest with himself. I'm someone who loves music and loves to hear it in high quality when I have the time to sit down and just listen. A good pair of headphones goes a long way for few hundred dollars. Some day when I have a lot more time for myself and can build a quiet acoustic room for listening to music and buy the high end equipment to listen to that music through, I will be too old for my aged ears to notice a difference in sound quality.

True, true! The more I spend on audio gear, the more I want to spend. It never ends.

some fake audiophiles told me not too long ago that I'm in the wrong hobby if I care about how an audio product looks like aesthetically....

I also have guilty pleasures that include, but not limited to: mountain bikes, guitars, guitar amps, guitar effects pedals, vocal microphones, drums, hand guns and assault rifles, and weight lifting. Much to the dismay of my wife, I must have the best, the greatest, the most expensive.

True it is. I've been in a few top end studios and they don't obsess over cables etc. I've also sat next to engineers that hear things I don't until after some time its an "oh yeah" moment. Often later in the mix. None of those guys obsess about brands, only sound. The biggest audiophiles I know make fools of themselves regular. Sorry, but its true. I've swapped speaker leads on one side on these guys setups b4 and it took forever for them to notice. That's how golden their ears are.

lol. I suggest the OONTZ ANGLE 3 PLUS for the cheap Bluetooth device.. $30. I call myself and audiophile. I am satisfied with my less than perfect M-Audio BX5a to Bluetooth APT-X setup playing spotify. Let's all admit it.. Dimishing returns play a part

The AudioPhallac (yes, I originally thought that is what it was - and in a way, is closer to the truth) Philip Greenspun, founder of photo.net used to call gearheads, "Dickless Yuppies." He said,
"If after reading this, you are still tempted to buy an expensive Nikon F100 body and cheap Tamron 28-200 zoom lens, keep in mind that you could make exactly the same public statement at a $1200 savings. Just buy a white T-shirt and a black laundry marker. Use the marker to write "I'm a dickless yuppie" on the front."

Your videos are short, and to the point. Thank you! However I both agree and disagree with this video. It is not just about the music. This is true. It is about the sound. There is a difference. These terms are hard to define, but I think that part of the definition of audiophile is the pursuit of sound. A sound. I have owned equipment that people have called 'classic', or 'the standard' that I thought sucked. I don't own any of that these days. Why? Because to me, it sucked. So there's that.
