I love these methods of tying the Turk's Head. In my car, I have a mandrel with at least ten of these ready to go, and I'll put them on random things throughout my town at night just to spread the joy of fancy knotting!

Wow, without speaking you have been able to teach me something I had been trying to figure out for years. You made it so clear what you were doing I can do it from memory now. Thank you!

Back in the day, learning knots from an old salt or exchanging knowledge about different knots was considered a currency. I consider the 9 min. 23 sec. watching this video time well spent. Now, off go I to practice earning my salary.

You are amazing Mikko! You have a way of making knot tying very clear. Though it might take me a few tries to get it right, I have now learned a new and better way to make turks heads. Thank you for sharing.

Great explanation and nice music. Found out, that’s it more easy for me to weave using my fingers instead of mandrel.

I do outside/down/inside, etc like you. When I turn my hand over I have 2 parallel lines. I pull inside over an push outside under to create 2 crosses on back side. Then I braid inside/outside, over/under, turn hand to complete knot. So turn crossing 2 backhand lines!

Can you tell me where to buy the cordage you are using? Can't seem to find it in marine shops.

Turks Head have frusrated me for years and for a long time I just gave up. Even though I had to tie it on a mandrel due to left hand disability, your tutorial enabled me to tie my first successful one!!! Thank you so much.

Hi Mikko, Thanks for the video very well done.
Would share what is the exact twine you are using for this?
I want to do a turkish head at the end of my sailboat tiller and that looks perfect.
Thx in advance.

I try to do this or some variation on my ship's wheel (for a top dead center) and I get lost every time, even on simple ones.

Really like the new "Spid" version of marlinspike, and the Graduate level of tying Knotting Turks Heads is very satisfying.

Is this the third time I've watched this.... mesmerising. How much Mikko Snellman cord did you use?
