This sounds like very few upright pianos I've ever heard. Definitely reminds me of an old fortepiano, and that's exactly what I love about it. I would definitely love to have something like this.

I noticed these short Steinways have quite a restricted sound in the middle range, not quite like I was familiar with from their grands. I have their 45 Sheraton. A little needling of the hammers goes a long way I have found. They are not very forgiving in tuning, becoming quickly noisy as unisons go out. They have longer keys than other brands; much longer than a Yamaha I have here and also longer than a taller Weber I have here. And solid thick lumber key bed like a grand. Understanding what they were trying to achieve has helped me to appreciate this piano. I still view it as a bit temperamental but it’s become a good companion for me.

Makes me miss my old Fischer console. It sounded amazing. Sold it to get a Mason & Hamlin console, but in the end, I love the Fischer more.

For an upright this sounds excellent. I wonder what Steinway would create if they chose to manufacture digital pianos.

I would love to have a small vertical Steinway. I have a higher end domestic piano, so I find that some of the smaller Steinways are not any more pleasant to play than my piano. I hate to spend money for a piano that is almost equal to what I already have.

I love the bright sound of this piano, and also its versatility in genre. If it's $30K new, what does this cost used?

I have to say I'm not fond of the sound. Sort of sounds like a fortepiano. Mapes IG piano wire is one of the best, but their bass strings aren't really that special (notice the odd lengths at 4:48 - not a sign of quality). I'd go with Arledge or Hellerbass.

Wow, you play a baldwin studio console of a similar vintage in another video and it is far superior at a fraction of the cost!
