The Most Hyped Photo Printer Of 2023! Canon SELPHY

Hey guys in this video I go over my recent discovery and purchase of the canon selphy cp1500. If you're looking to have that nostalgic feeling with your digital photography and make it feel more like film I thinking printing your pictures can be a great start! I had a similar epiphany earlier this year when I started journaling. I started by using an older version of the Selphy (newer one looks way faster and hopefully has better color). I enjoyed doing it so much I eventually took my old photobooth printer out of storage and now it sits under my desk kicking out 5x7s whenever I see an image I like. It's made me a much happier artist. It's way more satisfying seeing a physical print vs something that lives on a screen.

I came here after looking for a small photo printer solution. Then looked on Amazon. A review was ecstatic over it. So I came to YouTube and see what's up. How did I miss this launching. You are so right. Digital and social media has really killed the old school "feeling" of images/photography. I may have to get one of these. I'm betting family and friends will start asking for prints too. I'm always the "photographer" at any event.

Stumbled into a still working CP500 by chance in a package deal. Same 10x15 tray and cartridges as sold and used today. Same user exp story, rather amazed by how great it is to have within reach. Had no idea such products even existed. Will surely inspire more print lab orders as well in larger sizes.

Also inspired me to try some sort of street or market photo booth service, setting up a laptop or even just USB pictbridge straight from camera into selphy.

When printing with borders? Does yours also print closer to one edge than the other? I paused and zoomed and I can barely tell. But mine does this and it’s a TINY bit annoying. But I still love it.

I have wanted to be able to print more than what I shoot on just film ( I always get prints sent)
and being able to gift and keep photos on the fly like that is great for the price - the way it prints looks almost photographable all by itself

The same size prints, 4x6, are fourteen cents at Walmart. I do like the idea of buying this printer for instant prints, but for now I’ll upload pictures from home and pick them up at Walmart. The Selphy prints are just under thirty cents a print.

Does the printer and prints still hold up looking to give as a gift but read some reviews that the color distorts depending on conditions?

anyone has specific setting to make the color more accurate with the digital version? mine turns darker than the original one sometimes even the brighteness is set at +1.

Can these connect to a camera camera? Or if I have a new enough camera I can send the pics to my phone over Bluetooth and then print them? Im really wanting to explore a little project of getting portrait shots and handing it to them on the spot

Hi. I need help wiith this printer. I print some photos from sd card and and use setings on Lcd. The preview of photo is already cropped vertically and it is fine because photo is 4:3 ratio and ratio of selphy printing is 3:2. But i wanted to be cropped more below than above not in center so i chose cropping option but max crop frame enlargmemt doesnt cover frame horizontally. I cant cropp it only vertically. Waht is going on?

Nice vid, thanks. Thinking of getting one for my wife who likes doing the family pics thing. I'm tossing up between the CP1500 (which I think I prefer) and the SELPHY Square QX10 for ease of use. She hates wrestling the tech. Both use dye-sub which is superior to Zink. The QX10 looks like instant fun but the size etc is restricted. I think the QX10 is more expensive for consumables. The canon Ivy2 (Zink) is so popular with 'the girls' that I can't even get one in Australia at the moment. More useful v quick and fun. I'm torn, any thoughts? By the way- How do you find the extra coating on the CP1500 prints ? Does it make them easier to handle? Just for info- A CP1500 with an extra pack of consumables plus a pack of sticky paper is closing in on A$300. Ouch.

I tried one the other day and ended up returning it, as it does not do "full" 4x6" photos. It has a oddity format called Japan Hagaki Postcard and comes out to 3.94x5.83". Although this may not sound like much it crops all the 2x3 images you have at the edges.
