Haven’t heard this full length version in decades. Bought it new on 12” import back in the day. Thanks so much for posting this. Brought back wonderful memories.

This was sophisticated stuff for a 14yr old to be buying with his weekly spending money! Walking around with the 12" mix saying how i was "into Jazz-Funk"!! special times for real!

Absolute Dance music heaven...I hear the ''Cant give you up'' intro to this song and i'm transported instantly ( with goosebumps ) back to a gorgeous hot summer in London,  1980 when it seemed like dance music was exploding...''Casanova'' by Coffee....''You gave me love'' by Crown Heights Affair...''Funkin for Jamaica'' by Tom Browne, ''Behind the Groove'' by Teena of course ''Can't give you up'' by Mystic Merlin....These tunes made a dent in the national charts at the time so it always felt great hearing them on the commercial chart run

Musical perfection.... If I was on a desert island and could take only 1 record... This would be it... Never ever tire of hearing it, brings back so many happy memories when life was so much easier and carefree....

I use to play this in the pubs around north London in the early 80’s and the Corby club in Tottenham High Rd brings back memories

Hi Barry, 6am in the UK and I'm skipping through YouTube cause I can't sleep time travelling in via flashback to the Golden Years, when I had a full head of hair and my body was supple like a gymnast.
Level 42 were "Flying On The Wings Of Love", Hiroshima were doing the "Lion Dance", Rodney Franklin had "The Groove" and Shakatak were keeping up by "Steppin" and Earth, Wind & Fire were having a "Fantasy" in "Boogie Wonderland".
I had to have my fix from my favourite all time track I just "Can't Give You Up". It saddens me to see a message that guitarist Jerry Anderson of Mystic Merlin has passed away, I will listen more intently for the guitar and remember R.I.P. Jerry. 🙏🏼

Remember dancing to this at the 400 club in Torquay, back in the day when I was young and my life revolved around Friday and Saturday nights couldn’t get enough of jazz funk

We used to go clubbing up the West End and then WALK home afterwards  to Wood Green and then onto Winchmore Hill because there were no tubes or night buses back then. We were 16 years old back in 1980 best days ever.

Gold! Those were the days, days I miss so much. Especially now in these times. I'd love to be able to get lost in the sound, in the clubs and D, you know what. And not have a care in the world. Oh! Those days, I miss them so much.

Recently had a chance to play this as the closing song for this small community party in a somewhat remote area of Japan. Everyone, every grandpa, grandma, mother, father, children, was dancing their asses off to this song. It was magical. Feel like this song encapsulates the groove in one its purest forms.
