Eh, this would have been cool but I think it’s far more fitting that his final duel was with Obi Wan. They were rivals from the start and their lives were so intertwined, anything else wouldn’t have been as satisfying.

I would have loved to see this. But it must be carefully constructed. I don’t want the scene just for the sake of it. It must make sense in the universe. I think Luke would win btw

I'm not sure Maul would really be much of a duelist, as Palpatine didn't bother with sabers in RotJ. Of course, Maul is a pretty good swordsman like Dooku. And Zabraks probably age differently.

Imagine if things went differently and instead of Rey, it was Luke with a successful Jedi Order and a First Order with Maul at the top instead of Sidious or Snoke, and maybe Kylo was an apprentice to Maul. That would be so fucking sick!

I think Maul in his old age is more a psychological threat than a duelist.

From Luke end of things this would be cool for two things:

1 - can have Luke having to deal with a type of saber he’s probably not even seen before, the double bladed lightsaber

2 - if saved for the end, can work as how much he’s grown since his days as a little farm boy on a desert rock, then again Vader vs Luke on second Death Star fills it well and probably better in this case

I remember initially hearing about this when Episode 7 rumors started to drop. I still think it would have been better than what we got.

In George's sequels Maul is the new "Emperor" with an acolyte. I'd love to see this because if I imagine it; End of Episode 9, Luke faces the man who essentially started the downfall of his father, Luke's child and Hans children would fight Mauls Acolyte and the remaining pockets of empire. In the battle between Luke and Maul, Luke is impaled and passes into the Force. Ben Skywalker (Luke's son) finds his fathers remains (Luke's Clothes). Ben and Maul go at it as well as the Solo twins battling the Acolyte for the final duel of the Fates.

Honestly I think this would be really cool. Rather than face a galactic threat face one that comes from the shadows. I think in an initial battle Mauls savagery and speed would originally catch Luke off board, letting him keep momentum and win the first battle (Up to this point Luke had never faced anyone highly skilled and fast. He was used to foes like Vader, strong, skilled, but slower.), Escaping this fight, Luke would have a rematch that he would be able to win now that he knows what to expect..
