'Incredibly Rare' Fire Whirl Spins Over Canadian Lake

A rare fire whirl spun over Gun Lake area Thursday as the "out-of-control" Downton Lake wildfire raged in Squamish-Lillooet, British Columbia. The formation was the result of a “combination of high fire intensity, strong winds and air mass instability,” according to the fire service.
