As part of our series on Sustainable Tourism, we travelled around the country to hear from businesses, groups and communities with inspiring stories of success.

In episode 3, we looked at the importance of centring communities in creating a sustainable future for tourism in Scotland.

For this film, we went to Drumnadrochit, where the closure of the local Tourist Information Centre galvanised the community into action, in turn benefitting both local residents and visitors.

Encouraging an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in the community and social enterprise sector.

As a membership organisation, the Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAS) uses its expertise to inform, support and represent the network of development trusts all over Scotland, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise and encouraging mutualism and co-operation.

SCA is a coalition of community based, national networks and intermediaries – each one representing a different aspect of Scotland’s diverse community sector.

A registered charity, whose objectives are to strengthen and support the communities of Glen Urquhart and Strathglass, through revenues from local renewable energy schemes.

Community Shares Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government and National Lottery Community Fund to help promote the use of community shares. Their Edinburgh-based team is on hand to provide free support and guidance to anybody interested to learn more about community shares.
