Koh Mak is a tiny island in Thailand's Gulf of Siam, right next to the Cambodian border. It’s not as touristy as some of Thailand’s more famous islands, which makes it ideal if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy a truly relaxing beach vibe. The nearest airport to Koh Mak Island is on the mainland in Trat, there are several ways to get to Koh Mak.

❓ Is Koh Mak worth it?
Absolutely YES! Do it. It's vibe is quiet, remote, with a few hidden treasures like the Cinnamon Scenic Boardwalk and quirky spots like Ko Magic Arts Garden. Perfect for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

From Bangkok to Trat, then move to Islands in the Thailand Gulf
✈️ From Bangkok to Trat: flight (1 hr), or bus (6 hrs) 👉 We did bus and stay in Koh Chang for 3 nights, worth it!
🛳️ From Trat to Koh Mak: catamaran (90 mins) or ferry (1h30 mins) 👉 We recommend travel by catamaran

🛵 Rent a scooter with your hotel to drive around (350B/day)

24:39❓ How's the night life in Koh Mak?
It’s super quiet at night. There aren’t many restaurants or bars, so if you’re looking for a party scene, it might not be the place for you. However, the hotel bar and Coco Cape are nice spots to relax and unwind in the evening.

❓ How long should you spend in Koh Mak?
We spend 3 nights and we're happy with it, enough time to discover the beaches, have a day trip to Koh Kham, and do some water activities and resorts hopping. Check it out next episode about beautiful Koh Kham, you'll love it!

❓ Where to stay in Koh Mak?
Our stay is comfortable, the room is incredibly cute. The breakfast is okay, they changed to a la carte the next day as it's off season. The resort facing a rocky sand beach which is not as tempting as the others so we didn't spend time there. Next to it there is only 1 fine dining restaurant, a little up price compared to average that you need to spend on a meal in Thailand, but a good option in case it's too remote and you have no food 😂

Ideal itinerary for 2 full-day in Koh Mak:
Day 1: Relax and explore
- Visit the Cinnamon Scenic Boardwalk for some stunning views.
- Explore the Ko Magic Arts Garden (a must-see for quirky art lovers!).
- Spend the evening at Blue Pearl Bar for snorkeling and sunset views.
Day 2: Adventure and serenity
- Go on a day trip to Koh Kham, which we booked through Coco Cape—this is definitely worth it! We'll have episode 3 about trip to Koh Kham coming soon!
