Alkali flies and brine shrimp, San Francisco Bay

Life is abundant on seemingly deserted salty shores of San Francisco Bay. Swarms of salt-water loving flies feed on sea algae during low tides (filmed near Dumbarton Bridge). Myriad of eggs (cysts) of brine shrimp float in the waters along with countless empty pupae cases left by flies.
