I wish they'd sell the S series in more finishes and configurations. Honestly I don't like any of the current finishes, the only one I've ever liked is the blue one Ichika Nito has. The purple one is also growing on me

I have the same Q, can't beat taking it on a plane as cabin luggage, it's on the perfect measurement and it stays safe with you while traveling😉

That exact S model is my dream guitar. It's so beautiful.

I used to have one of the Premium S Series...I truly hate I got rid of that one. I currently have the Q54QM HSS, and truly love it. Frankly, wish it had a gloss finish over the satin, but it's a fantastic guitar.

As an extremely grateful fellow owner of a Prestige S series I have to agree that they are amazingly well built guitars. I’ve got the S5521Q. I try to practice or play every day and I only have to re-tune it a couple times a month AT MOST. Also, the thing practically plays itself. So ergonomic.

Here’s the way I like to think about it: Some people like their guitars like a muscle car, or a luxury vehicle, or even like a beat up old pickup truck. But these Prestige S series guitars play like a formula one car, and I LOVE it!

Anyway, great playing man! It could be my own confirmation bias, but it looked like the S series allowed you to play more freely. I preferred the sound of it too, but that’s subjective. Glad to have found someone else who shares my love for these guitars! More S series would be great!

I own both, a S61AL and a ICHI10 (Basically a Q52 / 54 with SSS config). Both are amazingly well built and comfortable to play. I prefer the ICHI10 though due to the neck. Roasted maple and the neck shape are just better to play for me. But you cant go wrong with either one.

I own the QX54QM and love it. I does take some getting used to but that came quickly. I've used it live twice so far & play it most every day. I also own a Jackson Juggernaut Misha Mansoor 6. Hard to say now but when the newness wears of which guitar will new my #1. Great problem, eh? Love your playing

I second what you said about Ibanez neck stability. I have never once adjusted the truss rod on an Ibanez, including my S1520 that I bought in 1999 (the first S Prestige they made).

The Ibanez Q sounded thicker and rounder than the S to me.
I’ve just ordered this black Ibanez QX model and can’t wait to get hold of it. (Always wanted a headless guitar)

Agree! More S series! I'm waiting for S shape HH pickups and lo-pro bridge. Ibanez, Please more S series.

Back in the mid '90s, an S470KA was my weapon of choice - to me that is still the most beautiful instrument I've ever seen. I changed the PUs and it sounded AMAZING! Sadly, the LoTRS II trem on this otherwise excellent guitar was utterly horrendous and thus, I ended up trading it in for my JPM P3. I really wish Ibanez would reissue the japanese 22 fret S-Series as the AZ truly looks (and feels) rather clunky in comparison.

I'm considering both these right now even though I am a noob. Made the mistake of ordering a heavy af revstar with a Bigsby even though they sound great. Made me realize that I prefer stoptail as well as much lighter weight. Neck injury and shoulder. I tend to wear the guitar higher up too. The Bigsby wasn't the one I wanted I was just told it sounds cleaner than the RS620 I initially wanted. At anyrate, both seem to have their merits and I just can't decide.

I notice strings are straight to the tuning machines and do not angle off on these two. But on other S models the headstock holes are off making the strings angle more which is weird. At least look so in online pics and usinga straight edge. I guess that's what makes the Prestige the pro model? If that is true then both guitars would stay in tune quite well. The idea of a neck that doesn't move is also appealing.

Hi Anthony, how is the neck thickness off the q, compered to the S? Are they equal.
Thanks for the nice comparison.

Wonderful comparison. What is the weight of each guitar?

Hi Anthony, do you prefer the normal frets or those with an angle?

In terms of similarites I think you see what you want to see. As two Strat variations the QX seems obviously much further removed from the source than the S.

My IBANEZ AZ strat with tremolo bridge is more stable than my Gibson Les Paul with a stop tail. IBANEZ makes the best necks. Add to that roasted maple and you have a neck that won’t move 👍🏻!!!

The Q sounds better to me. The finish on the S is more attractive, but the Blue Sphere I ordered will look prettier than either! Hopefully I will get it before the end of the world. Thanks for posting 😎

I think more SA than S DNA. Just wish they had AlNiCo magnets vs Ceramic. Will have to change pickups if I ever buy one. Too metallic sounding for me. Best Regards
