Sweet Transvestite from The Rocky Horror Picture Show is featured in The Rocky Horror Glee Show, the fifth episode of Season Two. It is sung by Mercedes, with Brittany and Santana singing back-up vocals.

Since it has slight explicit content in the original, this version has been changed to 'Sweet transvestite from sensational, Transylvania,' from 'Sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania'. While the altered lyrics have no effect on the plot of the episode, in the film these lines later become crucial. They also cut out a verse sung by Brad and Janet.

It was originally planned for Carl to sing the song, but it was thought to be inappropriate, so the song was given to Mercedes.

Am I the only one who thinks this is better than the original? No disrespect to Tim Curry, but Amber SANG the hell out of this song. She put in so much soul and flavour, whereas the original was just a bit kooky and for comedic effect.

These comments are horrible. Clearly some people have not watch the episode. None of the guys couldn't play Frank 'n Furter because there wasn't enough guys. Mercedes wanted her time to shine, so she singed up for the place.

Honestly, I'm disappointed at the majority of comments here. This version is amazing and in no way "ruined" the original. Amber wasn't trying to "beat" Tim's version and she sang this song in her own way. I hardly see where she could have failed. As to why the lyrics were altered, use your brain and think. The rules they had to follow based on their age rating probably caused them to alter it.

Seriously, stop getting so pissy about things that really don't matter. This is a *cover*, it wasn't meant to be an exact carbon copy of the original.

I think I prefer this version more than the original tbh. I absolutely love how she sings at 1:17 when she sings “when it all seems alright.” It’s got so much soul and funk to it!
