In this video I walk through the process of shooting super 16 film. Not going to film school made the process seem intimidating as there are a lot of things to learn. However, once you have someone walk you through it, it's not too bad. Join me as I walk through my process of setting up a super 16 camera for filming.

Great overview Arthur. The last time I shot a film on 16mm was 1974! I’d love to try it again. I would for sure if I had an Aaton like yours!

Great video. I shoot Super 8 but 16mm terrifies me. I chuckled at the end because your 'peace' sign with your fingers reversed means 'up yours' where I come from.

I've been yearning for these types of videos; I'm getting ready to shoot a short film later this year, and every project I work on I want to be shot on film. Please continue to make these videos, I beg of you!

Im working up to getting a silent-crystal-sync 16mm. Right now im at the Bolex Reflex stage. I love it. I keep saying that I'll sell my Bolex for an Arriflex, or Eclair... but i love it too much.

Great video. I shoot Super !6 on an Arri Sr2 Highspeed. Film has a certain look that can't be duplicated on digital

Hey Arthur. In this video you mention a 16mm camera discussion/comparison. Curious if that is posted yet. I took a shooting on film class at the local independent filmmaker society and shot on an Arri SR1, and am looking to maybe get an Aaton XTR or LTR. Curious if you have used each of these. The instructor teaches at SAIT and says the Aaton is pretty sweet. Thx.

Usually you have planned your shots interior or exterior and therefore you have decided what film(ISO) will be in the camera for that particular shot. If you are changing the ISO during this time even on digital it means you didnt plan enough for your shoot. Unless you have a crazy idea out of the blue... most DP and crew have everything all planned out because usually with film you have a pre-light session where you are already taking exposure readings and figuring out where all of the lights are going to be placed so you arent wasting time on the shoot day with all of this preliminary decision making. its all decided all accounted for. Even the lenses are placed in order. A camera crew is amazing group of coordinated efforts everyone knows their job and executes like a clockwork..

How long will raw stock last? I still have my 7293 sitting in my Freezer for the last 17 years unopened, I think Kodak discontinued this stock.

Excellent! Thanks very much. Question; do you Clients expect you to shoot in video? Or are you hired because of how and what you shoot? Thanks
