Been driving my friends mad trying to hum this to see if they knew what it was. I want it for my wedding. Finally I found a friend who reads music like a book. She had the score and said this is it, it's Purcell. Then I was able to find it here. This is the best version. What a relief. Thank you very much!!

I love the fascinating abundance of major sixth chords - eg D/F sharps! Absolute bliss!

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Tonight, I attended a wedding at my church. This was one of the Pre-Service Music pieces that was played.

From Jeremiah Clarke's Wikipedia page:

“The famous Trumpet Tune in D (also incorrectly attributed to Purcell) was taken from the semi-opera The Island Princess (1699), which was a joint musical production of Clarke and Daniel Purcell (Henry Purcell's younger brother or cousin)—probably leading to the confusion.”

This was my wedding processional and Trumpet Voluntary was the recessional. Everyone enjoyed it more
the Wagner traditional march.

Where is the trumpet stop ? I could'nt hear it.
Then it's not a "Trumpet Tune" but an " Organ Plenum Tune"

Susan herself selected this music for the bride's entry at the beginning of the ceremony at St. Monica's. I watched so carefully how closely Susan's hands grasped her dad's arm as she was walking up to the altar.

The staircase to heaven is inside your heart; you enter through the door of your soul. Our whole life is but an attempt to find this miraculous entrance. All our deeds are but a timid knocking on this mysterious door and all our hopes are to hear a voice that would respond, 'Come In!'🌟

What religious denomination may I ask? This was the suggested processional bridal music for the Orthodox Church. It sounds so majestic!

This piece is considered written by Henry Purcell. The Trumpet Voluntary (Prince of Denmark's March) is attributed to Purcell, although research has shown that this was written by Jeremiah Clarke
