Haha, its cool that the Versa does that. Seems like a clear fundamental frequency at 14khz and a second harmonic at 28khz (since 14 x 2 = 28)

Thats so cool! The high frequencies are shorter waves that don't "punch" as deep, so maybe the spike at 29 khz happens when you get closer because they don't propagate as much as the lower frequencies? And it may be oscilating between those two frequencies?

Man I love trying new detectors and I've been curious about GM 4xtreme. Glad to see one in your hands Mike. I'm hearing there's another Versa update in the works?

Jack the Templar did a good test on it and frankly it beat pretty much anything I've ever seen him test before in his test garden. It's a wicked unmasker. Definitely deeper than the legend. Can't wait to see you test it against the manticor or D2.

I believe that would called a harmonic, as it’s exactly 2x the base frequency. If you move just far enough away so the 14k signal is just under full, you should see pretty closely the 28k is half the strength.

its probably a harmonic frequency, if it's twice the lower frequency...it is.

That spike is most likely a Harmonic of the 14khz frequency.

GM4X peaking around Deeptech Vista Gold / Gold Gain range. Very barest disc and gain, is key. Never "throttle" any analogue, with either. Use the coil edge and "audio feel". They're an "aquired taste" : iron infested site tools par excellence. Forget depth: most, but not all, analogues aren't designed for that. Depth is of no use where ancient site work is concerned. The "new breed" seem to loathe them. Potentiometer knobs and effort and on, and I hear you say🤣👍 Hope all's good with you Mike.
