Just became a patron. I'm putting myself through a crash course in Greek history. As an Australian whose parents migrated from Greece in the 60s I thought it was about time I learn more about the history of my people. Your videos are engaging, interesting and informative. Thank you!

This series is great. I have one technical comment. The sound volume is pretty low, especially on this one. I can barely hear it without turning up my speakers all the way. It would be easy to improve this with free software. :) Just something you might want to try.

My lazy teacher linked your videos to his Google Classroom and told us to study with it instead of teaching us by himself.
I like your videos a lot, very helpful and easy to understand than my lazy teacher. :D

Very good summary. I just returned from a lengthy visit to the Peloponnese where I visited many Mycenaean sites and museums. To add to your excellent review, the current understanding in Greece is that the first Mycenaean settlements date from about 2400 BC (a bit early than you have here), they were one of the first national empires ruled from a central location, with a road network, a common language, extensive trade, a national military, and likely the source of many of the later myths and legends handed down as stories (to be recorded my Homer many centuries later). Their collapses was most likely due to their trade routes from the near east and the Aegean was cut off by turmoil and wars in the middle east. After the Mycenaeans were weakened, they could no longer defend themselves, which lead to the invasion from the North by the Dorians in about 1100 BC. It was the Dorians that built the first "classical" style rectangular Greek temples with fluted columns and gabled roofs.

Good job! ... new finds have proved that massive tsunami hit Kaftor (Crete) and Peloponnese after Santorini volcano erruption which utterly wiped of all coastal cities, which was one of major cause of mentioned collapse

that means Trojan war between Mycenaean and troy. Although war won by Mycenaean but exhausted civilizations and they were easily conquered by Greek Dorian's.

Is there any chance we might decipher Linear A or the Cretan Hieroglyphics in the future? If these people were such extensive traders, there must be a rosetta stone somewhere around the Medit. coast. How do historians try to decipher scripts without a rosetta stone anyway?

I believe script is another word for a type of writing. I don't think it's got anything to do with computers. Maybe that's where the word manuscript come from?

It's very interesting that the ancient Greeks had no idea who built the mycenaean ruins...
Perhaps the mycenaeans also didn't know and the ruins were built by an unknown, earlier civilization?
