Exclusive: 'Blasts before Smolensk plane crash'

Nearly eight years after a plane crash in Russia that killed the Polish President, his wife and senior government and military figures, official explanations for the tragedy are still disputed.

A Russian investigation blamed pilot error, but a British investigator has told Sky News that he has no doubt there were explosions on board the plane before it crashed.

What still gets me is that all these wreck pieces are weathered and moss covered and dirty. And also big enough they could have been transported on trucks from a trashyard. And the bodies of the victims where never really sent back. Just crates of anonymous lose bodyparts. The whole thing still stinks to heaven and it's shocking how little people remember that this incident happened.

I'm not Polish but I have Polish roots. LOT flight 5055, an IL-62M trying to land at Warsaw airport after an engine failure crashes in the Kabate woods outside of Warsaw. As the plane crashed it cut out 300 metres of the forest while it was being destroyed, it cut the trees down with its wings. Go look at pictures of the crash site and judge for yourself, that plane cut down 300 metres of the forest, while this planes wing was "cut by a tree". My nanny was supposed to be on 5055 but thank god she missed it. R.I.P nan.

I remember this day like it was yesterday, so shocking... I was 11 then so it was difficult for me to understand.

A video has also surfaced multiple times of someone investigating the site right after the crash and hearing multiple gunshots and soldiers talking, leading them to believe survivors were executed

The Russians basically said the plane crashed because of "pilot error" and that's complete bullshit... I don't know how Poland does it but here in the US only the best fly and maintain air force one... I would imagine Poland does the same so pilot error is out of the question and Equipment failure is practically bulshit also...

Such a fun fact: my aunt and uncle came from the other end of Poland to meet me in April 2010, just when they arrived, on that Saturday Lech Kaczynski died. It's worth adding that there was panic in my family, whether my uncle would have to go to the funeral, after all he was a lieutenant-colonel in the Polish Army.
