Dimash is beyond music, beyond art. Dimash is a whole new world of spiritual and sensual pleasure. He has given us a new way of feeling and enjoying life through His Voice. No, it is not a collective hallucination, although sometimes it crosses our minds that we could be dreaming. Dimash is Real, so real that he is the King of the Universe of Scenic and Musical Art. Nobody beats him, I'm very sorry for his detractors who are so determined to denigrate and slander, I hope that once and for all they assume that denying Dimash's Greatness is a losing battle. It doesn't matter that the great entertainment and celebrity media continue to try to ignore his existence and above all his immeasurable talent and his quality as a performer, they do so not only for his commercial and political agenda but with the sinister purpose of continuing to manipulate and brutalize the crowds ignorant and lacking of spirituality. *The story of this song* : very famous song, composed by Igor in 1994, for Alla Pugacheva. It has been covered by many, including by Lara Fabian, but Dimash`s cover is much loved by many :) The female version of this is very exuberant. Dimash said that he thought about the song from a man`s perspective and adjusted his performance to reflect that. /// *Story of how this song was born* : Igor invited Alla to perform at one of his creative evening concerts. She said : "I need a new song. Such, well... such a ! - She spread her arms wide. - I can't even put it into words." Alla was recently married, and she wanted a new song, one about happy love - "I'm not singing about unhappy love. Enough, how many more can I ?! I want to sing about happy love. I haven't sung happy songs in a long time" she told Igor.
It took 17 reworkings of the music, by Igor, at Alla`s request. Then the initial lyrics didn`t suit it. Then Igor asked a young poetess, Valeria Gorbachev, who wrote such poems, to write the lyrics for the song - telling her "Ler, I have one melody to which no one can write poetry. I'm going on tour in Sochi, but I'll play it and leave it to you. I'll call you back in a day. If you can do something, it would be great" And the next day Valeria was done.
Igor called this song 'the longest job'. He said : "Between the song in the form in which you bring it to Alla, and the song that she takes out to the public, there is a huge chasm ! Any song that is performed by Alla, is already like her child, because there is so much brought by her personally... There is so much in the melody, in the poetry, in the arrangement, in her interpretation of this musical material that in any song she performs, she must be a full-fledged co-author.
I watched her work in the studio. If it were possible to put cameras there, it would probably be a textbook for any singer, for any composer, how to work on a song. She sang one take, but for this take she prepared herself for two or three hours. She walked up to the microphone, she looked at the lyrics, she was groping the note, she was looking for a position, but she was not performing anything. There was a naked phonogram. And then she said: now turn on, now will be the option that will remain. She sang it once, and it was done, in one take."
Alla later said about the song : "I was in such a happy state, I had gotten married and it seemed to me that the whole world around me was transformed and I lived by it, and even now, let’s assume not, I still live by these memories. It was a wonderful time. And that’s all, that’s my happiness, it went into this song “Love, like a dream.” You know, I wish you such love, and that you will never be disappointed in this love."
(the grammar of this is a bit off, as it`s a translated interview, and it`s all I found, I couldn`t find the original to try fixing the translation ; but I think it`s intelligible :) )
Both exuberant, reflecting happy love.
Dimash shifted the focus a bit, and captured the awe, the fearful hopefulness, when you find yourself in a love so great, that it`s dream-like. And the soprano section gives the song a bit of a prayer quality, that a love so beautiful would never end.
