Why Is Minecraft So Nostalgic?

Minecraft: Throughout the game's lifetime, Mojang has certainly refined it into one of the most nostalgic games of all time. But it's bizarre, how could Mojang have possibly engineered the game into a masterpiece that makes you yearn for the great past you once experience on the game? Did Mojang develop and refine the game with the intention of inducing maximum nostalgia - A slightly different strategy to keep players returning after many years? In this video - I attempt to answer the question: Why is Minecraft so Nostalgic?

Thank you guys for watching, like and sub if you enjoyed, Sunny XO ❤

Minecraft is a perfect game. You feel alone, but it's a good feeling of being alone. It's peaceful, calming, and relaxing.
Thanks, Mojang and most importantly C418. You made my childhood legendary.

Just imagine when you're at the end of your life, and this soundtrack starts playing for the first time in 50+ years. Imagine the tears

My oldest, who's 23 now, begged me to buy Minecraft. At that time he was playing a monthly subscribed game and I didn't want to pay another subscription so I said no. He just keep asking so I looked into it. Realized it was a one time purchase so relented. I watched him play it for the next week and was just drawn to it. The music was beautiful. The graphics were simple yet dynamic. At night, the terror was very real. I remember watching my son hiding in his house on the side of a hill and a creeper staring at him through a window. I felt worried for him. One night after he went to bed I grabbed my laptop and loaded the game up and haven't put it down since. I've had multiplayer worlds with each and everyone of my kids, all 5 of them. They vary based on the kid. The oldest and my world is by far the oldest and most developed, it's a sort of Disneyland for the rest of the kids. My oldest daughters is small and relaxing, we did a lot of fishing and farming. My middle daughter and I are real similar, we enjoy a balanced world, so it's a lot of technical farms surrounded in pretty builds. It's also a realm her friends join us on so it is quiet large. My youngest son is autistic so his world is an incredible collection of eclectic builds and massive roller coasters. One minute you are exploring a very detailed build of the polar express, the next you're riding a couple thousand block roller coaster that weaves around towering statues of the sponge Bob square pants crew. My youngest daughter just started playing and she is going to be a griefer. I don't even question it. Weaponized charged creepers incoming. The game has allowed me to make lasting connections with each of my kids in different ways. Thank you Notch. You made a beautiful game.

I think what makes it so nostalgic is that when playing the game urself u feel alone in this huge world and with a calming quite sad background music that only strengthens the feeling of loneliness. As a 7 year old it was so calming to play and explore the world and just relax after a long day of school. It was something special that I had to myself. I didn’t need to focus on other people or problems in my real life. I just played with no care in the world. It was something that I really enjoyed and looked forward to playing every day after school.

I hope this game never dies out

It all started as this tiny block game. Now A giant Cave update is happening and Steve is in the biggest gaming crossover.

Literally as soon as the Minecraft music plays I immediately get a strong emotional reaction within mere seconds. Minecraft’s extremely nostalgic through its music mainly.

Minecraft was like being in a lucid dream back then. The graphics, the music, the sound. My 12 year old brain got attached to that simplicity. Life was simple, just like Minecraft. You wake up, go to school, come home and play Minecraft until bedtime. In Minecraft I would spawn in a new survival world and immediately start building a house out of wood blocks and prepare to go into a cave to find diamonds while avoiding the monsters at night. A very simple Minecraft adventure. Now I’m 21 and life isn’t so simple anymore.

I think Minecraft is so nostalgic because it has been around for such a long time and it holds a lot of memories for so many people. It's a game that has been with us through different stages of our lives and has a lot of replay value, so it's easy to go back to it and relive those memories. It's also a game that's very easy to pick up and play and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

the magic thing about minecraft is that everyone has its own story. Some of us were PVP slayer finding the dumbest way to gain fps and clicking faster, some us were INCREDIBLE builders who are now architect, some us were programming genius for creating mod. It was perfect.

Minecraft...
Angry Birds...
Plants VS Zombies...
These games made up my childhood. I miss the simpler times back then (2012 - 2017 in my case)...

‘Why’, he asked?
Well imagine this:
It’s summer 2012. You come back from school. Today was the one to last day before the summerbreak, and you decided to play minecraft. You hop on skype, and call 3 of your best mates. One starts up his server, because he got help from his dad who knows much about pc’s and software. You do not do much; a bit mining, transferring of items, cleaning your chests and inventory... and whilst playing, you talk about all the fun things you guys are going to build in the summerbreak!

(This came up in me because I recently started playing modded minecraft with my cousin and it brought me back when me, him, my sister and two other cousins were playing minecraft in that cousin’s computer room on macs and fairly used laptops.)

I can already see myself bonding with my grandchildren over this game in the year 2070. Minecraft really is a timeless game, and I think this will be one of the few things that can unite different generations.
