So, the thing about Vegito losing to Gogeta is actually wrong. You're forgetting that against Buu — he actually toyed and played around with him for the sake to get him mad enough in order to be absorbed and save everyone. He goes into fights with a plan no matter — and in the anime against Zamasu, he was actually trying to mentally beat down Zamasu, catching him by surprise. However, the thing is Zamasu is immortal so he literally can't kill him — even Beerus said he can't destroy immortal beings with Hakai.

Gogeta, albeit - yes, fight Broly and managed to break reality to some degree — Vegito can do the same thing or go even further than that. The boost he gets as a Fusion and the Rival boost gradually makes him exceed Gogeta in every way possible. The only thing that makes Gogeta stronger is when was the last time we seen Gogeta and Vegito. Last time we seen Vegito was against Zamasu, and the last time we seen Gogeta was against Broly, who is also stronger than Zamasu.

Gogeta is post TOP and Vegito is Black Arc, so when Vegito comes back into the show he'll technically ALWAYS be above Gogeta no matter what.

Also, BTW — in the manga he was just bullying Zamasu, is as strong as Beerus or even above that and that was during the Goku Black Arc.
