Liz Truss has flown to Moscow to urge the Kremlin to de-escalate and desist its aggression against Ukraine.

The visit is the first made by a UK foreign secretary in more than four years.

During the two-day trip, the foreign secretary will meet Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov to make clear that the only way forward is for Russia to cease its aggression and engage in meaningful talks.

She will push for Russia to abide by the international agreements it has already signed up to – including the OSCE Helsinki Final Act, Minsk Protocols, and the Budapest memorandum, which ensures the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine is respected.

They didn't take diplomatic ways with wars in Vietnam, Panama, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria..

Truss, please learn Geography and History. The Black Sea has nothing to do with the Baltic States. The last invaders of Ukraine were the Germans in 1941. With your nice RP you should be working in a shop of Oxford Street, London

Why didn’t the UK take a diplomatic route with the American wars in Afghanistan and the Middle East? Look what they did to Libya … Practice what you preach.

Lavrov should never have had a meeting with such an unprofessional lady.

Lavrov questioned whether London recognizes Moscow’s sovereignty over the Rostov and Voronezh Oblasts, in which Truss replied: “[the UK] will never recognize Russia’s sovereignty over these regions.” British Ambassador to Moscow Deborah Bronnert had to embarrassingly intervene and remind Truss that the two oblasts are actually considered Russian territory by London and are not claimed by any other country, including Ukraine. You just can't make this stuff up.

Russian joke: The English Foreign Minister is asked:Do you know anything about the Dead Sea? - No, but he was probably killed by the Russians

Liz Truss was never acknowledged Voronezh City and Rostov City as Russian cities. Wonderful. Hahaha. It is like somebody came to UK and said Portsmouth city was not in UK. So stupid. 🤣🤣🤣

Lavrov has so little respect for Liz Truss, he can't bring himself to look at her across the table. He knows that she is the Foreign Secretary of a declining power whose standing in the world relies on Washington. This is not going well.

6:35 When Lavarov corrected the interpreter “house of commons”… when the interpreter said “house of lords”… was that done on purpose as a flex!??

Can’t believe the interpreter could get that wrong… right??!!

Look at Liz Truss’ face when he corrects the interpreter. Inside she thinking… shit… his English is better than the interpreter. He’s playing with me.

what Lavrov can talk about with an ignorant liz trust if she doesn’t know that the troops are on the territory of the Russian Federation in the Rostov and Voronezh regions, the answer is amazing, we will never recognize the sovereignty of these regions.

I myself have never rested easy on the way NATO has pushed eastwards. Must be quite honest. Let Ukraine function as a free democratic state, but put NATO membership permanently on the backburner I say. Kennedy blocked Russian missiles from Cuba, so why should Russia have to face a similar situation?
