I just installed IMS set on my 2023 4runner ORP. Went with 2.5” front and 2” in back. Absolutely love the street ride, so much better than stock. Haven’t off roaded them yet but won’t be bombing roads in the desert, just 4wheeling in hills of East Tennessee. So far impressed with mine, and you can tell they look quality built. Mike from Exit Offroad hooked me up, great customer service

Their customer service is the best I’ve experienced in the “off-road” industry. Mike at exit off-road gives you no-BS answers to your questions.

Would like to see the 6112/5160 setup on Shock Value.

Just an observation.

It would be very interesting to retested all these with the back loaded up to like 50 of 75 percent max pay load. I get the impression that different companies tune their shocks for different applications.

Performance vs load carrying kind of thing

I'm thinking the dobies are more for an Overland build with substantial weight on it.

It's interesting how these performed. I've got the ims 2.6 on my 80 series and i love them. Great Street ride, excellent ride off road, my only complaint is a little light on rebound and a little easy to bottom out. A valve tune is in my future but only to tweak the rebound a hair. Maybe it's the larger diameter or just the way it's tuned but mine are the best I've owned. Coming from icon which we're nothing but trouble.

This is why im going with the Dobinsons MMRs for my Titan Swap. I want the ability to dial it in

They are adjustable, did you try to adjust them to see if you could get a better ride?

I have MRAs on my 80 series and they are amazing.

These are an overland/ expedition suspension. They are designed to perform amazing under weight.

Its not rhe same but I do own the MMR coil over and shocks and heres my experience over the last 12 months. Yes the adjusters are cool, but rhe rebound adjusters are not very easy to access, specifically the rear shocks which actually have the boot covering the adjuster. My coil collar started to lose its coating about 9 months in andthe grooves for the shock tower have all built up corrosion. My coils are pitting and the paint is chipping. Ive been wheeling about 4 times within that time period and clean the crap out of my suspension after I do. So in hindsight id rather dish out another $1-2k and just get the Kings.

I "upgraded" from 5100s on stock springs to a full set up of IMS' for my 2020 4Runner with Dobinsons UCAs and long travel rear struts, and I was shocked in the difference. The IMS feel like I'm getting bashed down the road. It's my daily driver and I have some rough city streets to commute on and each crack/pot hole/ bump in the road feels like my 4Runner is going to break from the impact haha. It doesn't feel like they're soaking up anything and just bouncing me off the road. I had no idea they would be this rough...

Can you be more specific in terms of where did they underperform?
Which ones perform better?

I have their regular twin tube nitrogen charged ones extended/long travel and i love them, plus they were fairly cheap.

What do you recommend then instead of these?

Would love to see shock comparisons on the 3rd gen Tundra next. Maybe the Dobinsons would be better suited for a full size with a a few hundred pounds of gear

If you do another shock value season, will you test sdi e-clik suspention? I've been thinking about these over a bilstein 8112. What are you're guys' thoughts?
