I came across this previously painted buffet and decided to apply Retique It on the top instead of stripping the paint and sanding to bare wood. Retique It is a major time saver!

Thank you for showing what product to us and how to use it. It's been almost impossible to find a video explaining what paints to use and how to use them to get the wood grain look. It has been so frustrating so thank you, thank you, thank you!

My kit has the light color primer, dark kona stain, and a epoxy top coat if needed. Do not have a dark and light primer ?
I like the way yours turned out however do I need to order a dark primer also ? I think you are running the graining tool through your light primer. The instructions I have is to use one coat of stain after two coats of primer are on the use the grain tool. When you use the grain tool on your third coat of light primer after not sure what you used on your first two coats. I like it because the grain tool shows off the dark primer under your light color primer. Then your stain. Trying to see what you used on your first two coats. I also bought the Varathane stain Kona to coat after.

I feel like the Retique it liquid wood kit I bought Off of Amazon was more watery and less pigmented than the ones I have seen used here on YouTube(yes I did shake & stir well)

I have a question has anyone actually used this on kitchen cabinets and how did it hold up

I tried it, ordered it direct so it wasn’t a knock off. It looks great on YouTube and I can see why it could be a miracle for some projects but I thought the light base color I got was not really light and honestly just a hideous tone. Texture wise it feels like chalk paint. I ended up doing a whitewash over it since I disliked the color so much. The gel stain they sent me was very watery, and there didn’t seem to be any residue to mix in. I would not use this product again.

Will this fill in the oak grain on cabinets? I would like to cover up the oak grain

If I wanted this darker, would I just do another layer of stain?

Can you please list the colors used from begin to end. Was that a bleached wood paint or the light wood?

Is there a smaller graining tool? I have lots of small board pieces less than a inch long.

I liked it best before the dark color was put on.

So you start with the traill edge of the tool resting on the surface, then as you pull across the surface and reach the point where you want to create the grain irregularity, you roll the tool to the leading edge, then back to the trail while continuously dragging it ?

Can you tell me why you need to do dark and light liquid wood before the stain? Could you use two light or two dark before the stain for the same effect?

If I am doing a table with an insert do I separate the two pieces with a gap or have the pieces joined up

I can see the flashing in the middle where you overlapped. You should apply the stain all the way across the board to avoid overlaps. Otherwise it looks fantastic.

Can you confirm the first two primer coats were 'dark' and not the light wood? I'm shopping on the site and it looks like a much lighter color. I want to make sure I get it right ;) And what is color #2?

Do you have a recommended top coat to use with this particular stain? Thanks!
