The Crusaders were one of the pioneers of Jazz-Funk music in the seventies and have made a number of visits to Montreux over the years. This DVD focuses on their performance from 2003 when the band were touring in support of their album "Rural Renewal". Founder members Joe Sample and Wilton Felder were joined in the line-up by long standing friend Ray Parker Jr on guitar and by the inimitable Randy Crawford on vocals. They delivered a set that spanned their career from early days up to their latest album capped with a stunning nine minute plus performance of their classic "Street Life" and finished off with a fun rendition of Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters".

I was driving home from work one day and then it suddenly hit me… the difference between music from the 60’s 70’s 80’s and now. The music doesn’t give joy or life. It doesn’t have joy or pep or original attitude. At least not much. Truly the golden era of music was over long ago

I was at that concert and met Randy Crawford on the street in front of the Palace Hotel after it. My fiancee Anne told her I'm a huge fan of hers. She ran into her hotel room and brought me back her CD. She signed it "To Hannu with all my love. Randy Crawford". How kind can you get? 🎉❤

Randy Crawford has that one in a million voice, so lucid and strong, pair that with Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson on trombone, and Wilton Felder on sax and it can't be beaten. Thank you.

Sometimes musitians and writers don't hear about the impact of their talent and hard work. This song helped me get out of the gutter in 1987 when I was ripping and running in the streets of "brick city" NWK . The lyrics are spot on and the music holds your attention so you can listen to the lyrics. Thank you Randy and the crusaders for helping me turn my life

Saw them in 2004. It was the last concert my wife attended before she started chemotherapy. I had always wanted to see them, it was a wish come true. Not all wishes come true and not all prayers are answered the way you them to be. She passed away and so every time I hear this song, I think of that night and that life. Thank you Crusaders for giving us so much great music and great memories! Randy, Joe, Ray and Wilton where great. RIP Candy, Joe and Wilton.

This song almost bring tears because it reminds me when I was in my drug addiction and I was living that street life. By the grace of a power greater then me I'm no longer in that street life.
