I went to follow your video but then quickly found that Casaos now has an update option in the ellipsis menu of each app. Now it's just the click of a button to update a given app. Pretty slick!

Doesn't work. I followed your instructions exactly and when I reinstalled using the JSON file both PiHole and Plex were reset to their defaults (like a brand new install). Restoring a backup (teleport) to PiHole was easy enough but all my libraries in Plex were wiped out. Took me ages to fix all my music album mismatches last time :(. I had used the default data paths when I installed both dockers.

So to my knowledge there is still no easy way to update docker containers automatically in Casa OS. I tried this method with a couple of dockers and it worked fine, but this completely destroyed my Plex docker to the point where I had restore data from a backup, and it was a mess. Is there still no automated way to do this like Watchtower and Portainer did?

Watchtower actually has a bug that it won't display the subject that you have set on the email. They have an issue on their github about it.
