I do like the explanation in this movie about Zilla. (Apparently not this movie but still) The New Yorkers thought he was Godzilla and gave him that name when they were mistaken and he was an entirely different Kaiju altogether.

I’m probably the only person who really doesn’t mind Zilla. Yeah, he’s no where as good as Godzilla, but he’s still pretty cool.

If zilla was brought back into Godzilla (legendary) it could be called "Titanus Jira" - a creature who mimicks the sounds and general appearance of the great King of the monsters, much like a milk snake is similar to a coral snake, so predators will not attempt to harm it. It is significantly smaller than Titanus Gojira, Notable differences are it's hunched posture like a velociraptor, oddly shaped dorsal fins, the lack of atomic power (although it can light it's dorsal fins in a threatening display) and it's ability to reproduce exponentially. although they were the bottom of the pecking order compared to their Larger brethren, Titanus Jira makes up for it's inability with cunning ferocity and numbers. However the only living specimen available seems to be sterile so it roams the sea attempting to steer clear of larger predators.

Zilla deserves his redemption, give him another solo movie and this time actually call it ‘Zilla’ like it needs to be and make him actually cool, badass, and powerful, easily one of the most underrated Godzilla monsters

Fun fact: in the english ver. of this film after zilla dies, the leader of the Xilliens calls him a tuna fish eater. However, if you translate the original japanese version, he calls him a “fish-eating abomination” dang zilla got demolished both physically and verbally
