Diseased Puppy Is Surrendered By His Family While Suffering From Constant Vomiting And Diarrhea
Показать описание
Young puppy Kai has fallen extremely ill and is desperate for relief after suffering from severe nausea, constant vomiting, and chronic diarrhea. This diseased boy was unprotected from dangerous illnesses by his neglectful former owners and is now incredibly sick with deadly Parvovirus.
Kai thought he had found his forever family when he was taken home by his adoptive parents. However, less than a year after settling into his new home, Kai fell extremely ill. He became extremely lethargic and could barely keep his head up. Kai started having chronic vomiting and diarrhea, and this poor boy was unable to keep anything down. Now weak from dehydration and not getting enough nutrients from food, Kai was feeling awful. His poor stomach cramped painfully and his intestines spasmed as he continued to become sicker and sicker. Unable to afford to test Kai for Parvovirus, Kai’s owners turned to us for help. When Kai tested positive, his owners surrendered him into our care.
When a family makes a choice to welcome a pet into their home, it is critical that they are aware of the costs associated with keeping that animal healthy and safe. By this age, Kai should have already received his Parvovirus vaccine, and we are assuming he was not vaccinated due to the cost, which left Kai vulnerable to contracting this deadly disease. There is no treatment for Parvovirus once a dog becomes infected, so all we can do is provide Kai with supportive care for his symptoms and hope that his body is strong enough to keep fighting. We have seen so many young dogs lose their lives to this unforgiving illness, and we will do everything we can to prevent Kai from meeting that same fate.
Kai will remain in our care for the duration of his Parvovirus treatment. He received fluids for his dehydration, an antibiotic injection, and an antinausea injection. Kai will remain in isolation at the animal hospital until his condition becomes more stable. Parvovirus is extremely contagious, so Kai must be kept separate from any other animals. The vet staff is doing their best to keep Kai’s spirits up, however, solitary confinement on top of already feeling so rotten has made Kai feel pretty low. To show Kai he is loved, please consider sending a get-well gift from his wishlist, or making a contribution to help us cover the cost of his care. Thank you so much for your generosity!
