Playing old games with an Intel Arc graphics card.

We see a lot of comments from people saying that the Intel Arc graphics cards fall completely on their faces when it comes to playing older games. Some even saying they are totally incapable of doing it but how true is it. Can you actually play older games on an Intel Arc GPU?

For $350 this has been a great value and just getting better. I actually play 4k and in most of the games gives very playable experience in pretty high settings. Now DX9 works in many great titles what more can you ask in only few months.

I'd suggest testing some strategy games, because sadly I'm not having luck using my Arc750 to play Total War: Atilla (can't load battles), TW: Rome 2 (cant load game) and Steel Division (terrain glitches)

A750 flies for me. Yet to have a game breaking issue. Must play HL2 again, it's been too long.

DOSBox doesn't work with the Arc cards anymore in Windows 10, since about 3 months ago with driver 4676. I really like my Arc a750 a lot, but I have a lot of old games from GOG and Steam that depend on DOSBox working. From what I've read Intel is dismissive of this problem, and may never fix it, so I'll have to eventually switch back to my AMD card, can't stay with the old Arc driver forever just to have DOSBox work. If you don't need DOSBox, then the Arc is a great card.

Hi I recently bought a Medion Erazer Major X10 with an Intel Arc A730M graphics, I have an old, Necrovision with the patches on and it turns out that when I start the mission 2 it hangs, it is possible that it is because of the graphics that I do not let it play well? Or do you have to look at a new patch or controller for it?

A770 still having big trouble when alt tabbing out of many games.... severe artifacting when going to browser that has videos embedded causing the artifacting which sometimes continues even after closing down games. Needs restart of PC to resolve. Very irritating.

I noticed a whole lot of tearing in this video. I hope thats just to feature the fps the card is capable of. If you cap the frame rate to match your hz you will experience far fewer screen tears and maybe none.

I'd love to see eSports titles or FPS while in a multiplayer pvp lobby. Apex, Valorant, Battlefield 5 or 2042, Overwatch, Warzone, Destiny2 crucible 🙏 if the a770 can get 144+ frames on low/lower graphics settings that could be a great budget choice for folks

That Half Life 2 performance was super unacceptable. It seems like DX9 - DX11 has improved a lot from more recent driver updates, but wow I can see how this turned off people at launch.

Some nice performance improvements again with this latest driver. How's the Arc UI/Control Panel coming on? I think they did some updates to that too maybe.

As someone who's looking to upgrade my gpu, an arc gpu would be last on my list.
It is simply nowhere near the level of stability or consistency for me to get myself or recommend to anyone with a straight face

i leave old games in my old pc and focused od RT and new games to enjoy new technology with this card but i have three old games and it´s penumbra series and runs...as expected detail maxed out and fps in space

Brother please check a game (Micorsoft Flight 2012) on it. I really like to see the perfomance on Intel Arc. It crashes with RTX 4070

looking at Dead Island, if Arc translates DX9 into DX12, would games on arc look better than native DX ?

wolfenstein enemy original (which has opengl extensions variable overrun problem) and etlegacy. i've been having problems with very unstable fps (online) no matter how low i set com_maxfps fps cap. i have vega64 or rtx3060 and 5900x cpu on win11.
