One thing I like about the D4 is the fact that the hose swivels at the canister end, and not only on the handle end. Most canisters seem to only swivel at the handle...causing the unit to flip over if you're not careful when pulling it along. Great review !

Your review (and your other ones on the K and E canisters) really helped me determine which Sebo canister vacuum I needed. I clean houses and commercial spaces for a living and I finally decided to make a great investment in a vacuum that would hold up. Thanks for finally doing a review of the D4! I was in the market for a smaller canister about 3 years ago and you recommended a smaller version but the local dealer only had a brand new D4 Premium in stock and gave me an excellent price. It's way overkill for my <500 square feet apartment and the ET-1 is still practically new in the bag since I have hardwood floors. I did purchase the premium parquet brush as per your recommendation (and removed the front strip) back then and it's been excellent.

You aren't kidding about the bag capacity on these. I'm only on my 4th bag in 3 years and could never get the bag indicator gauge to move. I guess they have to be nearly 100% full before it starts working.

I've found that the parking feature worked great until it didn't. The weight of the long hose and handle put too much stress on the floor tool insert and caused it to lean to one side when parked. The plastic eventually deformed to where it won't hold anymore. Has that been your experience?

The only other downside for me is the physical size compared to a smaller Miele for my space. The ability to keep the tools in the vacuum almost makes up for it though.

What's your recommended service interval on the motor and micro filter? I've only been through 3 bags and my microfilter is currently about the same shade of grey as your old one that you replaced. Sebo recommends between 10-20 bags and at my current usage that'll be another couple years.

Thanks again for doing real reviews from a technician's perspective. It sets you apart from people who do unboxing and initial impressions (and sales people who only worry about features) vs using it for a couple months first. Everyone has opinions but some are worth more than others.

I come from a long line of Electrolux addicts. My orriginal old metal shelled green Elux was a hand-me-down from my granparents. It died at age 43 years. I've had two newer generations which perform well, but just feel clunky by modern standards. This Sebo D4 addressed or improved everything over the Elux. If it lasts (it seems very well built), this is the vaccuum cleaner of the century. Possibly the best consumer-grade canister vaccuum ever mass produced.

Just purchased the D4 yesterday after watching your scbo comparison video. I did up for the small turbo attachment right away, as a smaller motored solution for cleaning up our cat tree is something I've wanted for years. Next thing on the list will probably be the upgraded hard floor tool but the kind lady at our local store was taken aback I'd purchased any accessories and advised me to hold off on any accessories purchase until I used it. Thank you for all you do and in narrowing down the choices.

I have a Sebo D4 premium for about 8 years and it’s a great solid machine. I do use the Sebo fresh and they do help with smells from stuff still sitting in the bag. The bag is huge. I will usually replace the bag before it gets full just because of the smells - the bags last so long.
I agree the hard floor tool they include is basic, but it does work ok.

Overall a great machine. No issues.

Bought my D4 about 3 months ago and I’m loving it! Best vacuum I’ve ever owned. Filled my “bottomless pit” in about that 3 month time. 1, 700 sq ft home with one small dog. I use my D4 at least once week and do all my dusting, upholstery, carpet and bare floor cleaning with the D4. Der Sebo D4 ist wunderbar!

I have an Essential G4. Sebo is the best vac I've ever owned and I've owned many high end vacs. I also work in the flooring trades and I recommend Sebo to any client who asks.

Awesome review, you really went through it all for somebody like me that's only owned disposable bissells and hoovers lol. I ended up buying an E3 yesterday but didn't open the box and did a little more reading. Decided to exchange it and pay the difference for the D4 earlier today, local dealer didn't complain about the upsell either 😂

Went to a vacuum store and the salesman definitely spoke highly of this model. Repairability and warranty made the decision easy for us. We’ve had too many bagless vacs that just started to stink with pet dander, so we were looking to get something that would last longer than a few years. Super impressed by the performance, also got the premium parquet tool since we have lots of hard woods.

Also got the value accessory pack thrown in from the store with the turbo brush, flexible crevice, 9ft ext hose and a couple other things. Love the turbo tool and flexible crevice tool was awesome for the car and dryer lint filter.

It’s definitely an investment but 10 year warranty from an authorized dealer makes a huge difference and speak to the confidence of the company in their product.

We got a pet brush from the dealer but it does not fit so I am assuming I need some sort of adapter. An adapter came in the accessory pack but it does not work either. Will have to figure that out.

I absolutely love the D series but the K series will always be my favorite. For large homes though the D4 can’t be beat. Sebo makes the best canisters along with, in my opinion, the greatest floor head ever made in the ET-1.
