The Showstoppers (alternatively the Show Stoppers) was a four-piece African-American vocal soul group formed in Philadelphia about 1967. They are best remembered for their 1967 hit, "Ain't Nothin' But a Houseparty", which was the debut release on three record labels: Showtime Records, Heritage Records, and Beacon Records.

The Showstoppers was formed about 1967 by brothers, Elec Edward "Alex" Burke and Vladimir H. "Laddie" Burke who were the two oldest of the five younger brothers of Atlantic Record's star Solomon Burke, who joined with fellow Germantown High School students, brothers Earl and Timmy Smith. The Burke brothers had been in show business since at least 1957 as part of a four-member group with two of their two younger brothers.

I bought this single in a flea market in the 90s, when I used to attend mod allnighters. One of my favourite records. Ever! So happy to see The Showstoppers performing...!!!

Lying by the pool in 1968, listening to KLIV AM radio next to my head and loving being out of school for a couple more months. Great music n great times as a 12 year old American kid in San Jose. Lordy we were lucky!

As an eleven year old boy I listened to BFBS and Radio Bremen as much as I could to get the newest music. Fortunately my sister had a tape recorder, so I still have a lot of rarities in my shelves. This one is on Tape No. 4 and I always liked the drive in this song.
