I worked in a job involving bodyguards for four and a half years in Kosovo. I had various squads of guys from Germany, France, USA, the Philippines and Pakistan who looked after me. All were good but the Germans were special, truly the best. I say this as an Englishman. Don’t fear, if the need arises, the Germans will still be formidable.

Seems like no one knows this, but we already had a strong army after WW2. This ended in 1991 when funding was cut due to the end of the Soviet threat and we needed to focus on reunification, which included pulling funds. We therefore intentionally downsized.
