FILM DESCRIPTION:
Joel and Ethan Coen take on the classic battle-of-the-sexes screwball comedy with Intolerable Cruelty. George Clooney plays Miles Massey, a high-powered Los Angeles divorce lawyer nearing a midlife crisis . While representing wealthy client Rex Rexroth (Edward Herrmann), Miles meets his match in Rex's gold-digging wife, Marilyn Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones). He's impressed by her similarly heartless ways of using marriage to fuel an expensive lifestyle, but he still defeats her in court. With Marilyn looking to get her revenge and Miles finding himself attracted to her, the two engage in a ruthless romantic pursuit to out-swindle each other. Billy Bob Thornton shows up in a small role as Texas oil tycoon Howard Doyle.

The Coen’s talent has no end nor boundaries. They’ll make this- a hilariously dark humored, dare I say ‘romcom, ’ which label I hesitate to use as to not box any other of their work into mere simple genre films… which they’ve never done in their career.

Them turn around and make arguably the best movie ever made, “No Country for Old Men.”

It has no score, maybe a couple hundred words spoken throughout the entire movie and is as dark as a movie can get because of the genius of the villain they constructed. Absolute geniuses, like I said. They simply transcend any rules or standards of film. My kinda writers/directors.

Always order for the lady... always. What will happen is one of two things:

1. She goes all gooey at your outlandish display of dominance and raw, unbridled masculinity. In which case, you’re already in there.

2. She objects and insists that she order her own meal. In which case let her do her thing with the waiter then simply say “I apologise, I always order for my dates.... I’ve never had any complaints, and after all, I’m paying”. At which point, she’ll either become apologetic herself or begin a debate about female independence etc etc. If the latter happens, you know you don’t want to go there anyway. Trust me.
