That being said, I'm actually more inclined to watch the movie now than I was before. So, perhaps it's just reverse psychology by Jim Carrey. I like him as an actor, not as a person. And that's okay.

I don't know Jim Carrey personally... but I love his professional work, his stand-up comedy and his films. Bam!

I was excited to see Jim in this movie and he got sensitive

Why did he take the movie in the first place then? And gladly took the money.

He didn't feel like what HE did was wrong. So why would he donate? You people just somehow don't know how to comprehend simple words. "Recent events have caused a change in my heart." Carrey's own words. He said he did the movie before the Sandy Hook massacre, and after that happened he had a different outlook on violence than what he had before. So he didn't want to promote this movie. How can this story be made any simpler to you?

so, he still done the acting and done a great job at it as usual, he deserves the money

Where did you hear he dejects Kick ass 2? All I've been hearing is that he doesn't want to promote it, not that he dejects it.

Dude, he worked for that money? What were you expecting? "Oh I don't like what you guys have done so you know what? Just don't pay me okay?" Are you even serious?

The Kick-Ass series, or any other movie for that matter, would only be so lucky to have the one and only Jim Carrey to star in their movie. Jim Carrey is one of the top comedians in the world, and to me seems to be a really great person.

Guys, whether Jim Carrey promotes the movie or not. Whether he did it for the money or not. The directors got their actor and the actor was paid. Trailers are created to promote movies for them, they really have no need to promote it. Plus, he's not a "main" character, even though he makes a big impact in the trailers. It's really completely up to him and he can do whatever the fuck he wants. I'm sure he cares not what people are saying about him. It's not a controversy at all.

Yeah but the thing with Matt damon is he can afford private schooling for his children. And private schools are generally better then public. So although he is praising public school, he still going to go with the option that benefits his children the most. :)

Except Jim Carrey didn't do anything except NOT take the time out of HIS day to promote HIS own performance in a movie. Even though he's the biggest actor in the entire film, all he's doing is simply NOT saying "Oh yeah, and I'm in that too.", and this makes him a hypocrite? I drink vodka, I don't promote vodka, I won't tell you that you need vodka, am I a hypocrite too?

It's not exactly that simple. - So I praise anyone who disagrees (:

Why are people bashing Jim Carrey for not supporting the violence in the movie? Who cares? The mans entitled to his opinion, I thought what McLovin said made sense. And what's he gonna do reject the money? No, he acted in the film, it was a job of course he's gonna take the money who wouldn't? He's was the best thing about this movie.

I hat how people are like "Sandyhook made me rethink everything." The only reason was because they don't think about it unless its talked about a lot and since it was talked about a lot people thought about gun violence. The media could have easily barely mentioned Sandyhook and we would move on, happens

Well I appreciate making fans happy, but I'm a parent and watching a little girl slaughter a room full of people who are bad guys just because the movie says so, is kindof nauseating. Up to that point I liked the movie but then I couldn't take it seriously. Plenty of people aren't going to be into this kind of thing so people need to be a little less shocked that Jim is one of them. It's like when some friends didn't want me around if I stayed sober. Insecurity is the reason for being butthurt.

he has changed his mind because he filmed his scenes before sandyhook. After he saw the movie and what happened to those kids he turned his back on the violence in cinema

Jim Carrey played a role in a movie which, on the face of it, glorifys violence and makes light of dark material. At the time of filming he was fine with it, then he heard about something which made him uncomfortable with the subject matter. He decided not to take part in the promotion of the movie. People are entitled to their own feelings, it's not like he is trying to ban Kick Ass 2. With regards to the money, he earned it he can do whatever he wants to with it. Also he's Jim fucking Carrey.

People.. it's all about making commercials for the film.
